Nice Cafe at Nelson Bay — Restaurant in Nelson Bay

Came here for lunch with my friends during the long weekend. We were offered a table straight away, however the table was situated completely in the sun with zero shade. We were more than happy to wait for a shaded table and told the male staff member this. He responded in a very impolite and seemingly annoyed manner, which we didn't quite understand as we didn't think we were causing any trouble. We brushed it off as we waited in the waiting area. As I went to collect some menus, another female staff member served me and when I explained that we were happily waiting for a shaded table, she responded in a similar rude manner and handed over the menu to me as though I had done something wrong.

We did not stay for the food. The cafe may be named 'Nice cafe' but the staff are...

Absolutely amazing food! We were a little worried after seeing only 1 chef in the kitchen and the cafe building up for a busy sunday morning trade. We were really pleasantly surprised when our food arrived and it was outstanding! Excellent eggs Benedict, eggs cooked perfectly and the hollondaise was unbelievable. The mushrooms were tasty and juicy and herby and just mouth watering! The chilli scramble was a bit hit and the waffles were next level in both taste and presentation.

Service was warm and accommodating and easy going, especially given we had 3 kids with us.

Haven’t had such a good breakfast in a while, and we’d eaten at other more up market cafes in Nelson bay, but the food was meh compared to this place. Will...

Unfortunately this time round my choice of the menu (again) wasn't very impressive. This is the 4th time I've dined at Nice cafe and sad to say I won't be going back. Gave them a second chance from the last time I was there. The caesar salad with salmon I ordered looked lovely when it was placed in front of me...but wasn't I in for a surprise! For starters, there was way too much lettuce and it still had grit (dirt) on it, obviously hadn't been properly washed. The croutons were like rocks (couldn't eat them in fear of breaking a tooth). Hopefully they can address the problem/s before too many patrons experience the same thing I did. I'd much rather have quality over quantity any day!

Nevertheless, I wish them well...
