Dangerous, illegal, noisy and NO staff on overnight Don’t stay here if you value your safety – and if you have an accident – as many people have done – there are NO staff at this place from approximately 5PM until the following morning. My 78 year old mother stayed here for a wedding ceremony in May this year, at the end of the evening, we walked her back to her ground floor apartment after dinner . There are two routes – one via dark and isolated corridors and as we weren’t staying there we weren’t sure of the route, and the other is up a few stairs from the empty (not manned overnight) reception entrance and over some stepping stones which lead to each of the patio doors of the ground floor apartments. These stepping stones are over a large pond or water feature which have fish and plants in. The stepping stones are meant to be used by residents to access their apartments because – as we found out – there are also individual lights at the end of each path. Long story short, the lights are all covered and overgrown with foliage, and my mother, who was following my husband (he was going to open her rusted and stiff patio door lock for her), fell off a stepping stone, which was not in alignment with the others. Her handbag went one way, dropping her phone and iPad, and she went the other way. With the aid of my husband, she got into her apartment, covered in green slime and water, but whilst he was able to recover her handbag with the phone still inside, despite fishing around in the dark in the water, using his own phone as a torch, he did not find the iPad. I reported this via their overnight phone and left a message with their answering service. They responded - the following morning - to the danger this presented to all people, by sending in their handyman to cut back the bushes and expose the lighting. He also found my mother’s iPad – no longer working obviously. My mum felt a bit silly and was in shock and did not want to cause a fuss, but being a pensioner was concerned about her iPad and phone which had all her travel documents on. Luckily we managed to dry out and get working her phone – thank you Samsung! but her iPad was dead. The management team did not want to get involved, or put up warning notices or change anything, although we had been told by another member of staff, that people fell in the water from the stepping stones, all the time! They would not even contribute towards the cost of a new iPad. The illegal bit comes when they have been emailed several times asking for details of their insurance agents and their solicitors but they answered only once to tell us they are not insured and then did not answer any other emails asking for details of their insurance company and refuse to answer with details of their solicitors so that we can deal with this through the proper channels. My mother suffered shock and a mild head injury and they did nothing and refuse to do anything – they are continuing to trade and believe it is acceptable that residents can fall into their pond - because it is “an interesting feature of our resort” and refuse to accept any responsibility or liability. On top of that, it is right opposite all the nightclubs and pubs, it is the popular end of town for young people so is noisy throughout the evening until all the clubs, restaurants and pubs shut -not good for families or those with young children or babies. It is a deathtrap accident waiting to happen –...

An Unforgettable Stay at Club Tropical Resort Port Douglas!

Our family had the most wonderful time staying at Club Tropical Resort in Port Douglas this February! We stayed in the Sun Lotus Family Apartment, nestled in the resort’s tranquil Water Garden area. While it didn’t have the sweeping views like some of the other rooms, the peaceful surroundings more than made up for it. The apartment was spacious, clean, and perfectly suited for our family, with all the amenities we needed to feel right at home.

One of the highlights of our stay was the beautiful pool area. Our boys absolutely loved swimming in the pool, and it quickly became a daily activity for them. It’s the perfect spot to relax and cool off after a day of exploring the area.

A huge thank you to Gisela and Mitchell at reception, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless. Their warm welcome and helpful recommendations made a huge difference, and their attention to detail really stood out.

We also want to give a special mention to Paul from maintenance. When we had an issue with the ceiling fan in our apartment, Paul was quick to respond and took care of it right away. He was friendly, professional, and made sure everything was working perfectly so we could enjoy our stay without any hiccups.

From the great service to the relaxing atmosphere, our stay at Club Tropical Resort was simply fantastic. We can’t...

Location is amazing and for this reason we would probably choose to stay again. My parents stay here yearly based on location.|The room size was amazing, we had a 2 bedroom suite. However the rooms are so tired and need a good makeover. It looks like nothing has changed from when it was first decked out. A fresh coat of paint, a new bed and couch and it would bring the value up so much more. The bed mattress sunk so bad in the middle, my partner ended up sleeping on the couch 2 nights out of 5. The couch itself is a great size but gosh it’s soo old, blue with green swirls. Feels like it’s the material of an outdoor couch. |The outdoor area the shutters didn’t work properly and there was metal trimming coming away from the ledge, that was concerning that my toddler would hurt himself. It’s just sad to see so much potential being missed. The pool was lovely, and a great temperature for our little one. You can see where they have just chopped part of a structure away and also now have a random white pvc pipe. This truely is a great location and it is a cheaper hotel, but I also think I would pay more money to stay here if they just did some basic renovations to bring it back to life. I hope for it’s future they do look at bringing the rooms up to a...

Great, central place to stay right in the heart of town. Easy walk to the local pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops as well as across the road from the sunday markets, the park and beach and the beautiful church. Not a far walk from the light house too. Some noisy bull frogs to keep you company but adds to the tropical feel! Have to keep the aircon on 24/7 otherwise the condensation will be crazy in your unit but can be a welcome cool change in the hotter tropical weather for those not used to it! Great pool for families to hang out and have some fun. Decent shared laundry facilities, need $1 coins to operate so have some handy! Can get powder from reception but if staying for an extended period of time it's just a short walk up to Coles to get some. All in all a pleasant stay!

Located right on the corner near the beach, this self contained apartment holiday rental is convenient to downtown shops and restaurants, the local grocery store (Coles), and the ocean is just across from the hotel on the other side of a park. The resort has a very tropical feel, and once you are inside, it’s hard to tell that the town is just right outside. Lots of tropical foliage, rocks and a small pond all help create a mini jungle just inside the walls. There’s also a pool, two hot tubs, and a sauna for guest use. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and were great at recommending local sites to see.
