A great hotel with a terrific atmosphere. The Court House Hotel is a relaxing place to have a drink, some food and watch the world go by. You can't beat having a drink in the outdoor dining area or deck on a beautiful sunny day. There are indoor dining options too. There is also an area upstairs that is often used for functions. Regular live music is played here on some nights. 'The Courty' is probably the best pub in Port Douglas for food, drink and overall atmosphere. They run an efficient kitchen and we have never had a bad meal here over the years - around three decades of visiting Port Douglas. On our most recent visits, we had a couple of great discussions with the wonderful manager Nikola! We also enjoyed our conversation with one of the very pleasant staff members, Erwan (there's a photo of him below). An always reliable hotel with excellent food and efficient friendly service. Keep up the great work team! :-)

We went on New year's day and while it wasn't that busy it still took forever to get our order, over an hour. The lady at the front did let me know when she took the order that it was going to be a while. The food was okay, we were starving by the time it came out so we couldn't be sure. We ate the lot. The bottle of wine we ordered while we were waiting was kinda bad so we didn't finish it even though it was a hot day and we had an hour to kill before our food came. This place still gets 5 stars because I understand new years day is not an ordinary service but it was still good. I'm being a little generous in this review.

Great location right across from the markets and on the main street. Dinner starts at 5 and gets to the table within 20 mins, with lovely smiles and kind staff. Steak was a 4/5 and the barramundi honestly had nothing to fault (5/5). The hollandaise sauce was divine and complimented the fresh barramundi and veges well. Would 1000% recommend trying it out. It’s gluten free too! Not many gluten free options (maybe 4 -5 and the usual things eg. Nachos, tacos, fresh prawns, fish and chips etc - no seperate fryer though). Would love more options.

Less than 1 star would be more for filling.

Firstly - the food is absolutely rubbish. Salad was rotten and food is definitely not fresh.

Secondly - DO NOT trust the staff here.!! (Sorry if there are some honest staff there but we definitely know there isn’t)

My partner left her back behind, on one of the chairs outside, after a lunch. It contained an iPad mini, wallet with all I.D’s and bank cards. And an expensive perfume.

When we phoned the place to see if anything was handed it, the lady said, rather quickly, “no nothing was handed in and that she checked with other staff members (without actually doing so) and she said again, no one has seen anything”…

We called back about half h hour later just to re check. The lady we spoke to again said nothing was handed in, without checking, again.

There was no request for information from them to say “we would call you should we find anything”.. no request what so ever.

Everything screamed “something wasn’t right”…

We then decided to drive back to The Courthouse Hotel, just to (at this stage) Triple check..

When we got there, we approached a lady and asked if a bag had been handed in. She said she’ll go take a look, so we followed. She found the bag in the room behind the bar, and my partner said “that’s it!!”..

Another lady was in there who we believe had intentions on keeping the bag..

Anyway.. DONT Trust them and don’t spend your money on rubbish rotten food…

and lastly, trust your gut… we’re...

Wife and I dropped in for a feed after a day tour. The bar staff were ok, the atmosphere was ok too. Instead of a table, we were directed to a bar type thing next to the stage. The hard plastic stools were way too high & small to sit on properly. I'm over 6 feet tall and I struggled to touch the ground. Super uncomfortable and the bar thing pretending to be a table was no more than 7 inches wide. Only good for leaning on. Really shouldn't be used as a dining table. We wanted to watch and listen to the live music but the best part of that area was dedicated for smokers. We didn't have a problem with that but we were told we can't eat there?? I would have thought that would be up to us, but there you go. The young bloke taking food orders was really hard to understand, don't get me wrong, he was trying and was nice enough but in the end I gave up feeling like we had no choice. Oh, and the grill was broken so no Parma. ( I understand things happen) Ended up going the chicken shintzel which was ready in like 2 mins. Chicken was dry and not great. Couldn't help but think this chicken was cooked well before we got there. After eating we left feeling like we chose badly. Considering the cost we expected better. We...

We visited The Court House back in September 2020, great food and great drinks and great service.. My wife had Long island ice tea back then and absolutely fell in love with the place. We ventured north again and wife couldn't wait to get back to this hotel. Oh what a disappointment we faced.. not a day, wife and I were looking forward to a cold long ice tea, they don't have them, apparently because they are too busy, they are to hard to make. Ordered strawberry daiquiri instead, which was sour. The freshly squeezed juice was tasteless and sour, the seafood platter was not worth the $55. Scallops were nearly non existent, mussels were slimy, the fish was over cooked and rubbery, the only thing nice was the prawns that had been frozen, you can tell by the texture and how hard they were to peel, the calamari and the sauce to give some of it taste. The service was also something to be desired. Would I go back, well I wouldn't rush back. Going from the great pleasure experience back in 2020 to what we experienced in 2022, huge disappointment. If you were just going there to treat it like a pub for drinks, yeah it would be alright but not the best place...
