My boyfriend and I had an unforgettable day exploring the Great Barrier Reef with Wavelength! From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The crew was absolutely fantastic—passionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic, which made their energy contagious.

We visited three snorkeling sites, each offering beautiful coral and marine life and enough variation to make every stop unique. Initially, we were a bit concerned about the group size, but it turned out to be a non-issue. There was plenty of space in the water, and we never felt crowded while snorkeling around the boat.

At the second site, we joined a guided snorkeling tour where the staff entered the water with us, pointing out marine life and sharing interesting facts along the way. We really enjoyed this part.

We also loved how everyone on the tour contributed to the experience. Whenever someone spotted a cool animal, they would signal to the group, and the staff would quickly follow up by signaling its location so everyone had the chance to see it. It created such a fun and collaborative atmosphere, and it was wonderful to see the crew so genuinely excited and eager to share the moment with everyone.

One of the highlights of the day was spotting a turtle with the tour photographer. She captured the most stunning photo of us with the turtle—it’s easily one of the best pictures taken during our entire Australian adventure!

A special shout-out to the staff for their attentiveness regarding my boyfriend’s diabetes. He always informs tour operators ahead of time, but the level of care we received on this trip was above and beyond anything we’ve experienced before. They checked in with him multiple times throughout the day and even provided delicious low-carb meal options. We were truly impressed and grateful for that thoughtful touch.

The food on board was excellent, and we particularly appreciated the scientific insights shared during lunch. These explanations added a deeper understanding of the reef and made the day even more enriching.

In short, we absolutely loved our day with Wavelength. It was a perfect combination of adventure, learning, and heartfelt hospitality. We now have incredible memories—and a fantastic photo—to...

After researching scuba diving tours for WEEKS, I decided to go with Wavelength and just snorkel even though I have PADI Open Water and I was staying in Cairns, a 1h15min drive away. Turns out, I am glad I did!

After reading many reviews about safety in packed scuba diving tours, given I hadn't done it in 8 years, I was a bit weary of what to do. Then, I came across Wavelength and, after reading recent reviews and checking the coral status of the reef they usually visit, I decided to book with them.

The boat is very comfortable with 3 proper toilets and it was not packed at all, even though it was sold out. I had a table for 4 for myself!

They provide pastries and coffee and tea throughout the day and a nice sandwich for lunch.

The crew was very nice and they were never rushing us at all. We snorkeled at 3 different locations and most people were returning to the boat before the time was over! They also checked several times that all customers were onboard every time before they moved the boat to a different location.

15% of the GBR is dead but I was not taken to those locations, it seems. There were plenty of fish (100+ varieties) and many beautiful corals. One of the sights was a bit underwhelming but the other 2 were amazing! They also offer free tours for those who wanted and took pictures of the coral, fish and ourselves for FREE! (Other companies charge extra for the tours and the pictures). I also managed to see clown fish, manta rays, turtles, giant clams and many fish I had never seen at an aquarium before.

Regarding motion sickness, no one felt sick on the ship I believe. I even fell asleep on our way out and had to be woken up by a crew member for the briefing!

All in all, all the reviews about this company are completely true. It was a great experience. It felt relaxed, enjoyable, easy going but at the same time very...

WAVELENGTH ECO SNORKELLING – Opal Reef magic We took this day trip snorkelling adventure out of the Superyacht Marina at Port Douglas. All day snorkelling at three different reef sites – all based around Opal Reef – one of many reef formations that comprise the Great Barrier Reef. It took us over an hour to get to the first one – “Beautiful Maureen” where we looked for rays and turtles but had some magical snorkelling. All equipment, including wet suits, is provided and plenty of instruction for those who haven’t done it before. There are plenty of noodles for those who are a bit more hesitant about floating in the water. A while later, we moved on, had morning tea and refreshments and then snorkelled from “Rayban”. As it was a bit choppy that day, we didn’t stay too long and moved off for an early lunch before going right out to Opal Reef’s furthest point and spent the afternoon snorkelling there. It was lovely and throughout the afternoon we saw rays, turtles, wrasse, parrot fish, barracuda, pipe fish and many more – including Nemo! (the clown fish that hide inside anemones). Before each snorkel dive we were thoroughly briefed by their marine biologist about what to expect from each site and anything that we can do to help preserve the integrity of the site or of the wildlife there. It was quite a while to get back in but there is plenty of space onboard this fantastic vessel, not just to store your gear but to also lay down and have a kip on the way back. This is a family run operation and it shows – lots of care and attention to detail and friendliness towards their passengers. Fantastic day out and would recommend . The price is very competitive...

A Spectacular Day on the Reef with Wavelength Spending the day on the Reef with Wavelength was an unforgettable experience from start to finish! This is more than just a snorkel tour—it’s an incredible journey into the vibrant underwater world, led by a passionate and knowledgeable crew who truly love what they do. The fact that Wavelength is owned and operated by marine biologists made the experience even more special, as their deep understanding of the marine ecosystem added a layer of education and appreciation to our adventure. From the moment we stepped on board, safety was a clear priority. The crew provided thorough and easy-to-follow instructions, ensuring everyone felt comfortable, regardless of experience level. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and their genuine care for the ocean and its inhabitants shone through every interaction. The highlights of the day were absolutely breathtaking. Not only did we explore stunning coral gardens teeming with life, but we were also treated to extraordinary wildlife encounters—a pod of dolphins playfully swimming beside the boat and the graceful presence of a manta ray gliding effortlessly through the water. These moments felt like a gift, and the crew’s excitement mirrored our own, making it all the more magical. Wavelength goes above and beyond to deliver an unforgettable experience that’s both fun and informative. It’s clear they’re deeply committed to sharing the beauty of the Reef while promoting its conservation. If you’re looking for an exceptional day on the water, filled with adventure, learning, and awe-inspiring sights, Wavelength is the way to go. We can’t recommend them enough! Thanks for a great day out.
