Before I share our experience we had with Debbie Lang I would like to confirm a few things. Without question the property is well maintained and rooms immaculately clean, hence we arranged for a second stay 2 months after our first. This review is not fictitious nor is it driven by any spite or malice, but purely for the purpose of outlining Debbie Lang's complete dishonest, inconsiderate, disrespectful and unprofessional attitude. My partner and I were always with the impression our next stay would be at the same property address. So anyone giving consideration to staying at Debbie's Place please read this beforehand. I strongly suggest you receive an upfront booking confirmation outlining the accommodation address, accommodation services and requests such as in-room cooking facilities etc. Here is our story, my partner and I first stayed at Debbie's Place back on the 05/09/2021 in a ground floor room with a kitchenette located at the rear of the property at Kurrana Street, Rainbow Beach. The outlook across the rainforest like garden from the room ensured a peaceful and private stay. We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the room that some weeks after our first stay I had contacted Debbie Lang on 23/09/2021 to book a room for the 29 and 30/10/2021. This weekend was the 7th year anniversary for my partner and I. It was also a long weekend, thus booking 2 months in advance. I had specifically requested a room with cooking facilities for the purpose of serving my beautiful partner breakfast in bed on the morning of our anniversary. Debbie Lang assured me she had a room for us with cooking facilities. On the 27/10/2021, 2 days prior to our stay I called Debbie Lang to confirm everything was still good at her end. Debbie Lang reiterated that a room with a kitchen had been booked for our stay at the Kurrana Street address. Upon arriving at Debbie's Place front reception at approx. 3.45pm on the 29/10/2021, I was greeted by Debbie Lang herself. She then stated "you are lucky, you have been upgraded". And informed me that we had been moved offsite some 400 metres away. She then requested we follow her in our car to a holiday stay across the other side of town. I felt something was not right. We arrived at an accommodation facility that was pretty average in overall condition and appeal to say the least. Debbie Lang then told us "you will have to park your vehicle on the street as there is no onsite carparking, and we need not worry because all the locals are too lazy to steal anything in this town". Debbie Lang then escorted us to the room which was located on the top floor of the building, up some 3 flights of stairs. When entering the room it was quite obvious to see it was originally a 2 bedroom apartment that had been divided into 2 x 1 bedroom rooms. The room was significantly small with no cooking facilities what so ever. By now my partner and I were quite distressed with the disappointment of the alternative arrangements solely made by Debbie Lang herself. I confronted Debbie Lang about the absence of cooking facilities, the size of the room and being located offsite. Debbie Lang's reply was "there are BBQ's down near the pool to cook breakfast" or alternatively "you could go down to the beach and use the BBQ's there". When confronted about the fact I had booked 2 months earlier, Debbie Lang replied "there wasn't anything else available", I asked why she did not inform me of this 2 months ago. She then left us without any apology, any resolve or more to the point any accommodation at 4.30pm on a Friday evening leading into a long weekend. We had just driven 4.5 hrs from home to Rainbow Beach. Unfortunately this review only allows 4000 characters. Read into please people. Me and some Friends stayed on a Saturday-sunday. When we first arrived it was lovely, Debbi greeted us smile and checked us in. A few red flags came not long after checking in. One she didn’t take our name or contact number, secondly there was no milk and when we asked she said she’ll get some but never returned with milk. Not a big deal but just another thing we weren’t happy with. Thirdly we were told to not use any of the appliances because we were only staying the night. Mind you we just paid $240 for the night, the least we could do is use the massive multi-use bbq. We did end up using the bbq/electric stove on the bbq. Because we needed to use the facilities we paid for. The next morning around 8 i went down to my car and noticed a basket full of new sheet and fresh towels.. i found it a bit rude and it was like she was giving us a hint. Anyways at 9:57am i hear Debbie yelling for us to leave pretty much and saying we have to pay an extra cleaning fee for using the bbq..! I just stood there and nodded my head as i was shocked at the way she was handling herself. I then hear her go downstairs and say quite loudly to her cleaner downstairs how much of grubs we are and that we’ve trashed the place apparently..? I was very confused so i made sure i took photos of how we left the bbq and the house because i know we left that place the way we found it. As we were leaving Debbie approached us very rudely, so i told her we are leaving and that i’m not paying any extra fee. We feel she was all in it for the money and was just being picky.
To conclude what i’ve said. I feel very mistreated and honestly i’m shocked at the way Debbie runs the joint there. I wasn’t very happy with the hospitality at all. I can’t believe we couldn’t use the massive bbq. If you’ve stayed there you’ll know the kitchens have the bare minimum. After reading the reviews other people have written about Debbie I feel like we must have encountered her evil twin! The Debbie we met was the exact opposite of everything we have read about her! Does she pay people to write the other reviews?!
She messed up our large group booking badly and accepted absolutely no responsibility for it instead blaming everyone but herself.
My friend has a poodle and I have a Cavoodle and we were told we could book with pets for a fee which we paid. Upon arrival she said the property has a no pet policy despite the huge billboard in town stating pet friendly. She was screaming and yelling at us about her new carpets and told us the dogs could sleep outside. Why would we pay a pet fee to leave our pets outside? She finally said they could stay in the bathroom but only if we switched rooms. We had paid for a two bedroom place with a pet fee and ended up in a pokey little room with one double bed and a pull out couch! A total rip off for the $320 we paid! The pull out couch was tiny and my feet touched the end! A huge downgrade and no refund of the difference between a two bedroom place and one bedroom place! We were basically just told to suck it up or go elsewhere but everywhere else was fully booked! Not cool after booking months in advance!
The freezer didn’t work, the fridge barely kept things cold and not one of the rooms had milk so what was the point of the supplied tea, coffee and sugar?!
Oh and the beach being ‘just across the road’ was a bit of a stretch! It was a kilometer away!
