Riverside Restaurant — Restaurant in Rockhampton City

Shared a delicious meal with friends tonight at The Riverside Restaurant which is at the Mercure. There were quite a few there tonight and although some of the servers had training badges on the service was very friendly and efficient and our meals were served very promptly. It is a little loud but the decor and feel of the restaurant is very nice and the food was really delicious. We shared the gyoza entree which had a nice tasty filling but the best part was that crunchy pan lattice. For main I had the Slipper Lobster Spaghetti which was fantastic. It is a little spicy but definitely tolerable for someone like me who is a bit adverse to spice. The pasta was cooked to the perfect al dente and there was a decent amount of lobster throughout. My friends had the Chicken Katsu Rice Bowl and the Chicken Breast Fillet which they both enjoyed. For dessert we had the Creme Brulee and the Sticky Date Pudding. I just love creme brulee and this one was really nice. There was a great caramelization to the toffee that gave that amazing slight bitterness to the crunch on top of the rich, smooth underneath. I had to write something. 3 weeks ago I was sitting in riverside. And young well presented young man around 30 came in with his elderly mother and was refused service. On over hearing the conversation they had made a booking they were then refused drinks . It appeared to me that they had been dropped off . Then the young fella asked why the Asian team member could give no explanation. At the time I found it odd that the bar staff went and said something to the Asian staff member on the quiet. The bar staff members kept laughing in the back ground and pointing. I feel that staffs intention where to embarrasses and humiliate this young man for reasons unknown. I felt for the elderly mother who was clearly upset by this. They left and staff seemed to be excited and laughing about what had taken place. I will never return to Riverside. As this was INTENTIONAL TO HUMILIATE AND EMBARRASSES A PAYING CUSTOMER FOR WHAT REASONS. .IT JUST HASN'T SAT WELL WITH ME.

We had an absolutely delicious meal and we will be going back the next time we're in Rockhampton. Everything was yummy and the service was wonderful. Everyone was so lovely. Our daughter loved the colouring booklet that she was given and enjoyed her meal. I tried her steak and it was divine and most kids meals aren't great but this one was amazing and we were quite impressed with it. We had bruschetta which was the right size for an entree to share. They were on bite sized crackers which was great. We then had steak for a main and it was mouthwatering. I had a rump which was delicious but my partner had rib fillet which was just so tender.
