I’m back with another on the road review of Indian restaurants throughout Oz. I usually only write when it’s very good or very disappointing. So let’s start with the setting. Nice location with seats inside and out. Very promising. I had checked out the menu before I came so I knew I was looking at the most expensive Indian food I have had so far, from Sydney to Melbourne to Adelaide, Hobart to Townsville and all cities in between, but I figured I’d give it a go. Waiter advised that mild was very mild so I ordered medium because I like flavour. Two vege mains, a naan and rice. Portion size on small side of average. Flavour was mostly just chili, none of the rich various flavours I usually expect with these dishes. Not a great sign when you feel like you want salt. No one ever came by to see if it was okay so I never got any. Garlic naan was quite good, saffron rice was average. The thing that took me from mildly disappointed to really offended was when I asked to take the remaining food home. (Remember I bought two mains), they gave me one small plastic take away and said I had to pay extra for the other two I would need. I asked if they would have charged me more for take-away orders. No. In fact, if two people were there eating the two dishes they would have provided two boxes but since only one person was there… I had to pay. So, average flavour, smaller than average dish size, no actual service and I paid a whopping $63.00 for a meal that would have cost me $50 in the heart of Sydney. Nope, do...
Read moreThe gravies taste the same across the board regardless of what you order. Some of the preparations, such as Rogan Josh, are far from being authentic or even close to what it actually it is supposed to be. This was our 2nd time at Trufusion and our 300 dollars didn't serve us well.
Response to Property's response
Hi Amit,
Appreciate your candid response save for the fact that the issue was not with the money we paid. We paid according to what we owed you. The concern was about the taste of the gravies in particular, which did not match up to what they are supposed to be. In relation to that, paying 300 Dollars did indeed pinch our pockets.
We really appreciate your courtesy of taking our orders on your own. What we would have appreciated even more if your property taking the criticism chin up instead of resorting to a personal remark, which was way out of context. We were disappointed with the gravies and we conveyed the same to your manager who was humble enough to acknowledge the error and pack us another round of Rogan Josh, which we politely refused.
From an Indian food aficionado to a celebrated chef like yourself, I felt the need to 'reflect' on your response to our disappointment and explain the review, which is disappointing itself.
Had no other way to respond, hence the edited review....
Read moreMe and my wife went tonight at this indian restaurant. for some time we were happy because we came rockhampton to celebrate my wife's birthday. The restaurant was poorly staffed. There were barely any working staffs to be honest. We were not acknowledged for 15 min of our entry. When we finally got to order half of the menu were unavailable because the staff told us they didn't have staffs to prep and didn't have time to do. This was very shocking to me. And when we finally got something that was available on menu it took them 54 minutes to cook. The dish we ordered was Nepalese chicken chowmein. The chicken bits tasted very very hideous and Ferrell. i had to spit it out. My wife did the same , so we complained it to the Front staff. She took it very very rudely and told us that the chef always tastes the food before sending it to the table. she came out after 5 minutes and told us that the chef is gonna take that food we complained about for dinner . That is not the way you deal with a customer who is not satisfied. I would have happily paid for the dish I didn't eat if I had known it would be that much of a big issue to them. the second meal came after 10mins, the chef did come to ask us how it was but it was still the same so we said it was ok, and then paid for...
