We (Family of 4, 2 Adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 2 years old) stayed for a week in a 3rd floor 3 bedroom apartment in March.||The reception staff was lovely, very nice and helpful with things to see and maps of the area, he couldn't have been nicer.||We were given the keys and told where to park which is in a secure underground car park which was great.||Upon entering our room I realised there was no AC which was BAD it was over 30 degrees and the place was a furnace, we immediatly opened the windows and doors only to realise there were no screens on anything. This is a huge problem as they needed to be kept opened at night and we had bugs flying in, not to mention it wasn't at all safe for children to have wide open windows. Our 2yo threw toys out of the 3rd story window that I had to retrieve from the pool area, luckily no one was injured. ||There are no fans in the living room area, but 6 ceiling lights? This is absurd, you know there were fans there because the fan dials are still on the wall but no fans. If you aren't going to have AC you need to have fans in the living area not just the bedrooms.||||There is also no patio bolt on the sliding door leading to the verandah and our 2yo got out there while I was in the bathroom and was trying to climb over the railing - super unsafe for small children. There should 100% be a locking patio bolt on the sliding doors and windows if they are to allow children here.||||We had some sort of small insect invade all our food and bedding. I have no idea what it was, like a small semi-transparent ant, they were everywhere, in the bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms. I had to purchase bug spray to keep killing them and we had to keep every single item of food in the fridge at all times. It just felt dirty. (I attached a picture of the bug I'm talking about, there were hundreds of thousands of them all over the place)||||The internet worked well, but the TV is a Hisense so hardly any apps like Disney+ or Binge. Only Netflix and Youtube which was a shame as we don't have a Netflix account. ||||Some ammenities were provided but not much, we thought at least there could be some salt/pepper sachets but nope, only some sugar which we don't use. The shampoo etc is cheap little sachets rather than bottles of nicer toiletries, we didn't use them as they seemed cheap and not nice.||||The location is superb a short walk to Kings beach and the playgrounds and some places to eat, we used Menulog most nights for food delivery. Shelly Beach isn't too far of a drive either. Kids loved the beaches.||||The pool is FREEZING COLD, not one single person there said it was pleasant, In fact we could hear people jumping in it from our room talking about how cold it is. This really needs to be heated, I don't care what time of year it is, heat the pool please! The spa was nicer but really small.||||The place wasn't very clean to be honest, the bathroom in the main bedroom had an inch thick of dust all over it (as seen in photo) the appartment is very old, lots of patched up marks on the walls, dust on skirting etc, the price was pretty good so I didn't expect the Hilton but still dust like this isn't acceptable at all. Carpet was nice and clean and looked fairly new.||||Was nice to have a washer/dryer and dishwasher, but only 1 sachet of dishwashing powder isn't adequate, I know these are self service appartments, but who is buying a pack of dishwasher tablets for a week stay. At least give 2-3 sachets I'd rather pay a few extra dollars a night.||||Overall the location was great, staff great, but there were too many issues of cleanliness and safety for us to stay again. I can't see us...
Read moreWe stayed in Room 73 on the 7th floor of Burgess @ Kings Beach Apartments on my daughter’s birthday.||||If you are expecting to see the same impressive standard of apartment as appears on their website and their marketing, then you will be SORELY DISAPPOINTED, as it is evident that those photos were taken a very long time ago. The apartments and furnishings are quite dated and somewhat unclean and unkept. The floors and counter tops were dirty/dusty, with dead insects on the counters.||As per the attached photos the carpets were disgustingly dirty and stained… As per the attached photo, the beddings were not clean and was stained to the extent that my child refused to use the bed in disgust and slept on the sofa. The manager was shown this where he indicated disgust.||||There is no air conditioning. Yes, it may not be mentioned that the apartments have air conditioners, but like running water and electricity it is taken for granted that in Queensland, air conditioners are a standard necessity especially during summer months.||||It was windy during the duration of our stay and the sliding doors and windows constantly rattled extensively and the loud noise was quite unnerving. ||||The ocean view would have been awesome if the windows were clean enough to see outside! The windows were so dirty that the view seemed like looking through frosted glass. Refer to photos as reference.||||The grounds were clean and presentable. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi/spa bath was not operational. Use of the sauna is strictly limited to office hours only. As we arrived late on Friday afternoon it was locked and unfortunately the same restriction for use of the facilities from lunch on Saturday. The sauna was locked, and the manager refused to give us access to the key as it was out of office hours (till 12 pm). Only upon extreme begging and rationalizing did he reluctantly concede and indicated that he was doing us a huge favor by allow us use of the sauna.||||A 9:30am check out time, is the earliest check out time I have ever encountered. This is way too early especially considering that you have to move a family with luggage out without breakfast early Sunday morning. One has to clean the apartment and then move your vehicle out of a locked cramped car park then come around and the check out in time. We requested a later checkout, the manager ardently refused to extend any further than an hour. Holistically, 10:30am was still an unreasonable time.||||Chris, the receptionist, sounded quite pleasant and helpful but she was not there over the weekend.||||Holistically, this accommodation cost is way overpriced for what you get. The only nice thing about the accommodation is that the view is lovely. Otherwise not great value at all.||||I have tried to give a realistic review. I have attached photos to substantiate my review.||||One critical advice… when you drive out of the steepish driveway, be careful as you enter the road, as the rear of your vehicle may slam onto the landing as you enter the road, even with an elevated...
Read moreBurgess must have been absolutely the best when first built. The unit block is older but well maintained, particularly the grounds, pool, spa, sauna, tennis court, bbq area etc. The location of the apartments is excellent with only a short walk to the beach and the ocean baths and there is a good pub and a couple of cafes and restaurants in the local precinct. ||We stayed in a 3 bed 2 bath unit on the 6th floor and it was spacious, well appointed and nicely furnished with great views. From the balcony and two bedrooms we could see the ocean and watch the ships and we also had views to Mt Coolum from two of the bedrooms.||There is minor wear and tear in the apartment but nothing off putting at all. The kitchen was very well equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and the usual appliances - plus a slow cooker and an electric grill. The unit had a washing machine, dryer, iron and small clothes airer. The garage under the building is secure and the car space was generous and easy to park in.. ||We were aware when booking that there was no air conditioning however the apartment has ceiling fans in each bedroom, as well as the living area and dining room. It also has plenty of windows providing excellent ventilation and air flow keeping the rooms cool. This leads me to the first negative point which is that there are no security measures on the large windows which have low sills. I would have been a little worried if young children were with us.||The other negative issue was the Sanyo television and the truly awful way the channels are set up, making it very confusing when using the remote control. As there is no Foxtel provided at the accommodation, it would have been good to have a smart TV in the unit so we could watch Netflix, Stan etc. Apologies if the TV was in fact a smart TV however there was no mention in the unit’s compendium about accessing streaming services, simply a warning not to retune the TV. ||Barry is the onsite manager and he was very welcoming and pleasant to deal with. All in all, we had an enjoyable stay - I actually would rate it above average, but not quite very good, so would...
