So I’d been having a particularly rough week after being made redundant from work and numerous other personal dramas to boot. My lovely friend came to, in her words, kidnap me and take me to the beach for the day. After an hour in the sun the weather had different ideas and we were forced to change our plans. Given that we had made the trip to the beach last minute, we didn’t have a change of clothes and were wearing bikinis and shorts. Upon entering the Tavern we were greeted by the ever so smiley Allen. We asked him for a pool table and he was almost relieved as this was the only part of the tavern where the dress code didn’t affect our entering the premises. Once we settled in the pool table area, ordered some drinks and then proceeded to order approx. $100 in food. The female staff at the sports bar had a very different demeanour towards us and it became clear we weren’t welcome. By the time we had ordered our second round of drinks, one woman from behind the bar advised us that we would need to put on a shirt. We kindly advised her that we had checked with the staff upon arrival and were informed that as long as we were in this area of the tavern we were ok. I also said that whilst the first group of staff we spoke to were male, we didn’t understand why we were now being treated differently. This woman proceeded to inform us, for no reason, that the aforementioned Staff actually “swings the other way”. I found this so offensive that a staff member would expose another staffs sexuality and could not understand what relevance it had whatsoever. This woman eventually submitted and let us remain in the area that we had now paid for, but in my personal opinion this was only because I pointed out to her the lack of cleanliness around the establishment. From sticky floors to food-covered menus. I also took the opportunity to inform her that as a human being and a reader of body language it was clear to me that the entire disagreement began with the disgruntled red-haired bar tender that originally served us and provided little to no customer service and continued to, in my words, death stare us for the remainder of our stay.
In summary. Do go here. Do not waste your time with the sports bar and the staff...
Read moreHad a disgusting experience here. Went in with my guide dog. To be soon told that I would have to sit outside on the balcony, I was not allowed to sit inside with my guide dog. To soon have what I think may have been a shift supervisor tell me once again that I would again have to sit out on the balcony. when I questioned why this is, he told me that the people don’t want the dog here. We had only just sat down at the table inside. Tried to explain to him that it is against the law, and that you would need to look up the guide, hearing, and assistant dog act to look at the laws And be aware of what access guide dogs have. If you looked at these laws, you would realize that Guide dogs are allowed in any venue and especially here at your Tavern. The man kept telling me that it is their policy that Guide dogs must sit outside, this is a bunch of rubbish and guide Dogs are able to sit in where any other people are. After soon trying to explain this to the man he then changed his story and wanted us to change tables as it would be more privacy. When we went and had a look at the table , this was in an even worse spot, closer to the kitchen, and closer to all the amenities. Nothing but appauling service from this staff member. And not willing to talk about what the laws are, and kept changing his story. Will never go back here again , and will never recommend this place to anyone. You should really educate your staff on working dogs and their access rights. I was only here 12 months ago and had an amazing experience, shame to see it go so...
Read more*edit I can’t seem to reply to the owners comments below but I did try to call back and left a message. I haven’t seen an email. Thanks.
Was looking forward to it after great reviews.
Ordered my steak medium rare and it came out below rare, it was raw. Took it back and the guy (manager i think?) just asked us what table number. Didn’t make an apology or anything.
I’m okay with a bit rare but this was raw.
By the time it came back (possibly microwaved as it was steaming) the guy told me to be careful of the plate as it was really hot. It had been under the warmer while my steak was cooked further so not only was the plate was very hot, my salad was too. Again - no apology. Nothing.
By then my husband and son had finished their meals and as my son is only little he couldn’t sit still for much longer so they went to the kids room while I ate dinner on my own.
Aside from that both our steaks were really rough, chips just average and salad was not pleasant at all.
I know food especially steak isn’t cheap but for the price I expected more and under the circumstances though we might get offered a free drink or dessert or something.
Once I had finished and was waiting for husband and son there was flies swarming the table for the dirty plates but the staff just keep wandering by and averting their eyes. Plates were still on the table when we left.
Bit of a shame, we...
