I don’t usually do regrets - but I wish I had read the Trip Advisor reviews before I booked this. I have stayed at Accor hotels in the past and they have always been excellent. This was the first time I had stayed under the Mantra brand and it will be the last. ||We were travelling through NSW to get to Sydney Airport to fly to Tasmania and I thought this was a good place to rest for the night - I was wrong! The hotel is beyond tired, in fact it should be razed to the ground and rebuilt. The reception has limited opening hours and whilst the area is clean the rest of the hotel isn’t. ||Your first experience is the single very slow lift that takes forever to use. When you enter the room you are greeted with old furniture that is beyond its best and grubby. The dining table is repaired and held together with angle brackets. The kitchen counter had a significant burn mark on it. The appliances were so old they were yellow when once they were white. The curtains were hanging off the rail in the main bedroom. The sliding glass doors to the balcony were filthy. The insect screens had significant holes in them. ||There is only air conditioning in the lounge area and not in the bedrooms this unit dripped condensation on to the carpet right over a power socket. This had been dripping for so long that the wall it was mounted on had water stains all the way down it. The tv had children’s finger prints all over the screen and the dust on the unit was so thick you could grow potatoes in it. ||The on-suite bathroom as so small you had to close the door to get to the toilet and when you used the shower it sprayed more water out of the back of the shower head than hit your body. This drenched the floors outside the shower. ||Kitchen floors were not clean with both sticky and greasy areas. Mouldy tea towels and cracked cups. The lighting in the living area was extremely dim with only one operating bulb in the ceiling lights that should have two and no table lights so main lights or nothing. ||In summary this hotel was dirty and needs extensive investment. Considering the cost it was very poor value for money. You couldn’t pay me to stay here again! ||The sad thing is the hotel doesn’t care, if you read other reviews you will find very similar comments in other reviews. This hotel simply...
Read moreSuperior 1 bedrm - 2nd level. The rooms were nice and modern, very clean (I did check this out) and spacious but a bit spartan in appearance. Could do with another comfy chair in lounge room as there is only a 2 seater couch. The kitchen facilities were basic but good (2 of everything). We found the beds very hard on the back though. I woke up every morning with a sore back. Most motels between Sydney & Melbourne have now replaced their firm beds with medium to soft beds. As 1 owner said "we may be rated 3.5 star, but our beds are 6". (Hint here Mantra - try A H Beard). The staff were great, they went out of their way for us to make things a bit more comfortable and stress free , which was very much appreciated. The breakfasts on line say it's $20 for a hot breakfast, so we were going to go to the coffee shop around the corner for a full breakfast, but I discovered that if you just turn up it's only in fact $15pp & $10 for a continental. The spread is quite good, not over the top, but plentiful enough. We ended up having breakfast there twice as a result. If you are bothered by traffic noise then this place is not for you, unless of course you do what I did and brought industrial strength ear plugs with me. (Quite handy when travelling.) Very peaceful after that! The location was great, just down from the hospital, which was the reason for us to stay there in the first place. There is parking available, very close to reception if you are not so mobile like us. And about 3 buses go past the top of the street to take you to the shopping district ( 4 min down the road ) or walk it. The free bus also goes...
Read moreTERRIBLE STAY. I have stayed in Mantra Apartments before in NSW and Brisbane so my expectations of this Mantra in Wollongong was to be high and fair. The reception area smells and looks beautiful but the room I had paid for ( Superior Apartment ) wasn’t superior. I would actually love to know what their version of superior is because the room we had received was disgusting. The apartment was covered in thick dust. Walls throughout were dirty, huge hole in the lounge which appeared to be a rough patch job and the bathroom wasn’t that crash hot either. Prior to arrival I was asked if I required a king bed or two singles, I had asked for a king which wasn’t a problem. When we arrived we saw it was two singles pushed together. During my stay I did see a lot of housekeeping staff so it amazes me how the room was that filthy. You can literally hear everything going on in the hotel morning and night. The lift was also dodgy and had broken down one day. The first 2 nights there was heavy rains non stop, we had noticed that the carpet in the lounge room by the window ( the window was shut tight) was soaked. We are so disappointed, For a 4 night stay for $1100 I expected a clean apartment. Except all we received was severe hay fever that we couldn’t escape from. We also received 1 roll of toilet paper lol. I couldn’t even ring down to reception because of their short reception hours and went out to purchase my own. If you need/want a car space it’s an additional $15 per night which is ridiculous considering the price you pay to stay there.
I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you want to stay...
