It was a real treat to stay at the Wiesenegg Hotel during our recent ski holiday. I was a bit concerned about the location initially but it was easy to get to the main lifts - you just go via two drag lifts positioned right behind the hotel. The hotel is around ten minutes walk from Hinterglemm and connected to Saalbach via the ski bus (covered with your Ski Circus Lift Pass), we liked that it was in a nice chilled out part of town. For us, the food was the biggest bonus of staying here. It's evident that the chefs really care about the food they are putting out. Everything, from the granola and muesli bar to the salad dressings, desserts and wine pairings was perfected beautifully. Every breakfast and evening meal was a delight (highly recommend staying on a half board basis as it really was the best food we've eaten in a hotel). The staff were accommodating, friendly and helpful at all times - going out of their way to help and make everything as easy as possible for us. It felt like being invited into a family home - which evidently, we were! Another great bonus to nurse tired muscles after a full day's ski was the hotel's Black Box spa - a collection of three saunas/steam rooms with suggested timings to get the most from each. There was also a delightful tea room with healthy teas, nuts and fruit and a relaxation lounge which was perfect for snuggling up with a book. The only very slight downside for us were the beds which we found a little spongey. But this was a small gripe and it certainly wouldn't stop us returning - possibly in the summer to do some hiking. Overall, a wonderful stay with some great memories of our first ski...
Read moreLovely, recently renovated hotel with great spa and good breakfast and dinner.||We, a family of 4 with teenage children, spent 5 days at the family run Hotel Wiesenegg in February where we opted for the half board option. The facilities were great with a good choice for breakfast and a varied set menu at dinner. The hotelâs restaurant also caters for diners not staying at the hotel in the evenings. There is a high staff ratio and diners are frequently encouraged to order more drinks and to opt for the daily wine recommendations for dinner. We are not big wine drinkers so opted for beers with dinner instead. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience with the young female owner manager who, much to her staffâs embarrassment, issued instructions that, following the purchase of one soft drink each, our children were not to be served any tap water as a second drink. Carafes of tap water were liberally served on almost all other tables we could see so when we queried why we were made to buy still bottled water (for 7.50 Euros no less!!) for our kids, we were told that we were not allowed any tap water because my husband and I were only buying beer, not wine. Not only did this completely single us out and made us feel like we were only there to spend as much money as they could extract from us but it is a complete outrage given that we were already spending 1,000 Euros per night to stay at the hotel in the first place - as well as buying additional drinks, (including alcohol!!) in the evenings. The young lady has a lot to learn in terms of hospitality and has sadly lost our custom. We...
Read moreWe stayed with a group of 33 people in this beautiful hotel that is run by Mrs. Karin Schwabl. From the beginning, the communication was smooth and fast. We did have some requirements: we wanted a hotel close to the slopes, with a nice wellness, bar and a friendly receptiveness to groups. The bus drivers had to be able to keep their rooms earlier and longer, we wanted breakfast on arrival and an evening meal on departure. Not easy for a hotel for such a large group arriving and leaving at peak times. But our rooms were ready on arrival in the morning and we got full service until departure. The location is perfect: you take the anchor lifts behind the hotel to the big ski lifts. Or you take the bus which is very close to the hotel. We were also lucky that we could ski right back to the ski locker area of ââthe hotel. These super equipped lockers are by the way one of the best we have had in the 20 years that we have been organizing our group trip. I can therefore warmly recommend this hotel. Not only Mrs. Schwabel but the entire team of Hotel Wiesenegg did their utmost to give us an unforgettable stay. A big thank you for that. We will definitely come...
