This place is AMAZING!! We had the 4 bedroom panoramic penthouse. It is huge and easily gave 3 couples enough space. The view is spectacular and was perfect for our white Christmas with snow falling and even fireworks over the lake.||||The lift goes directly to the front door of the penthouse which is cool. There are 3 bedrooms with ensuites, and a fourth without. There's also another separate toilet and bathroom (with a sauna). Kitchen has pretty much all you need (except a decent peeler). Note that they only give you a very small supply of milk pods, coffee and tea so byo these if you drink a lot. Everything is spotlessly clean, beds are comfy. The balcony is quite large with 180 degree views over Zell Am See.||||Breakfast was great - not a huge variety but there is everything you need and nice quality.||||As others have said it is a walk up the hill but it's a good walk to walk off all that beer and gingerbread. It isn't really that hard to walk but with bags it was too hard with the snow so we got taxis (12-15 euro) from the train station when we arrived and when we left. You could also get their free shuttle to the City Express Station and then the walk to the Zell Am See train station is an easier walk. Note that the shuttle has restricted hours. Check in is quite late at 4pm however we were lucky that we could get in earlier than that.||||Zell Am See is a perfect town for Christmas time with cute markets, pretty street lights, Christmas music playing down by the lake, and of course the snow that we had. We also went to church at St Hippolyt on Christmas Day which, though in German and we couldn't understand, had beautiful music and felt special.||||One day we went to the top of Schmittenhohe (Schmitten hoho as we called it :)). We got the #71 bus to the Schmittenhöhebahn where you get a large cable car all the way to the top.||||Totally recommend staying here - and stay longer than 2 nights (we wish we had) as it's...
Read moreThis was our second visit to an Avenida by Nikolaus apartment, this time in a larger unit accessible by elevator. The breakfast room was conveniently just one floor below, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast featuring Prosecco and fresh vegetable juices — although the juicer was quite loud. They also provided eggs on request, which was a nice touch.
The apartment was lovely, with a breathtaking panoramic view of the lake. However, all the appliances were preset in Arabic, which made them difficult to operate. Additionally, the electric fireplace was initially broken, but it was promptly repaired, and we were offered a discount for the inconvenience. One of the sink drains also needed fixing, which was addressed swiftly. We appreciated having a sauna in a separate room, which added a nice element of relaxation.
While the reception staff was attentive and friendly, the housekeeping team seemed to lack thoroughness and had some difficulty understanding requests. The kitchen was equipped with only basic essentials — there was no timer, garlic press, or immersion blender, which made it challenging to prepare anything more elaborate than simple dishes like spaghetti Bolognese.
Unfortunately, we forgot our baby bottle warmer upon departure, and we were assured that it would be sent to us. However, four weeks have passed, and we have still not received it. I inquired about a tracking number and was told it would be provided, but it has now been three days without any follow-up.
Overall, it feels like the apartment is popular with Gen Z guests, who might not use the kitchen much and are more focused on enjoying the location and having fun. That said, the location truly is stunning, and it remains a wonderful place to relax and take in the beautiful...
Read moreVERY STRESSFUL and horrible experience for my family of 4! We were very excited about this trip to celebrate our sons 17th ski trip birthday-it turned out to be one of the worst hotel experiences of our life! From the minute we entered we felt as though we were being attacked over a discrepancy in the cost of breakfast. The manager (Ben) was literally arguing the cost even though I was showing him the price on their OWN website! Such a scam! Is it really worth being so combative with a guest over the cost of a breakfast!?!? It was a terrible feeling after a long middle of the night flight being so exhausted and then dealing with this very hostile person:/ ||My kids got upset because I got upset and it ruined an entire DAY for us trying to come to an agreement over the breakfast as well as the accommodations being given the LESSER value room than what we paid for!! It was horrible and I hope this twice is will spare the next person from having a bad experience here as we did! Try to book earlier bc we only booked this based upon false 5* reviews as well as being one of only 2 properties left with availability (now I know why!!) I will never use reviews solely as a means of booking after this experience. We should have book The Grand Hotel even though they had lower ratings we went there to check it out and it was beautiful!! Location and amenities we so much better than the Nikolaus! OMG…I wish I knew this beforehand. ||I will say that there was man by the name of Sohaib (spelling I think?) at the desk who tried to be so kind and helpful and he tried to make it better experience for us-he SHOULD be the manager bc he knows how to treat...
