I recently stayed at this gast house in Zell am See and had an overall good experience with some highlights and minor drawbacks worth noting. Here’s a breakdown:
Location (5/5) The location is ideal! Just a two-minute walk to the town center and conveniently close to Lake Zell am see While there’s no lake view, the mountain views are beautiful, and the terrace was a lovely bonus for enjoying the fresh air and scenery. Value (5/5) For the price, the value here is excellent. You get comfortable amenities and a prime location without breaking the bank, which is a rarity in such a popular area.
Parking (3/5) Parking is available but charged separately, and spaces are limited. Be sure to return early to secure a spot, even if you've paid for it, as it can get full quickly. If you miss out, you’ll have to find alternative paid parking nearby.
Amenities (4/5) They offer 24-hour coffee and water in the reception area, which is a nice touch. However, the reception closes at 8:00 pm, so plan accordingly if you need assistance later in the evening.
Room (3/5) Rooms are quite small but immaculately clean. The presence of a bidet in the bathroom was a pleasant surprise and adds a nice extra touch. However, there’s no air conditioning, only a heater. The heating was on constantly and made the room quite warm, even if turned off—something to keep in mind during warmer months.
Spa & Pool (5/5) The spa and pool were exceptional! After a long day of exploring, it was the perfect place to relax and recharge. Highly recommend making time to enjoy these amenities.
Breakfast (5/5) Breakfast here is a must! Every item was delicious, and the restaurant staff was friendly and attentive, making mornings a pleasure.
Service (3/5) The reception staff could have been more welcoming; one gentleman was a bit rude, which was disappointing. However, the restaurant team made up for it with their kindness.
Overall Despite a few small issues, this guest house offers great value with an unbeatable location, delightful amenities, and a fantastic breakfast. If you don’t mind a bit of a warm room and limited parking, I’d recommend...
Read moreNow, normally I don’t tend to review hotels, but this one is a must if you stay at Zell am See.
This newly renovated hotel offers sleek, practical and modern interior with kitchenettes in all the room. Not only does it come with your complimentary tea and coffee, but also cold beverages (water, coke and red bull). On the beds, you have bathrobes and slippers that you can use for the spa for each guest.
We were upgraded to a superior double suites which has a separate room and en-suite bathroom, which meant that the kids had their own bathroom as well. The superior suite also has a combo oven and a stove which is not available in the standard room our friends stayed in.
The hotel also has a spa which offers a pool, spacious relaxing beds with partitioning, and two saunas with different temperatures. It is very much comparable to dedicated wellness spas.
Service was good with friendly staff on hand who can advise you on what to do in Zell am See, especially with children. Our hotel gave us a “Summer and mobility pass” which meant that the activities and public transport were free (or heavily discounted).
The location is a short walk from the train station and close a couple minutes walk to the pool and town centre. Close enough to the main attraction, but far enough from the busy centre.
I definitely recommend this hotel, especially if you...
Read moreWas expecting a nice lakeside resort from the photos, but arrived and our room had a creaky bed and an awful view to a car park ramp. Asked to change rooms on two separate days but was told they didn't have any rooms free....(Or they would have to change too many things so it would be too much effort..) No air conditioning despite it being 30 degrees - had to request a fan from reception and carry it to the room and then leave a door open (to a road which isn't the safest...)||Room clean enough overall, however our bedding had quite a bit of grey dust all over one of the pillow cases when it was changed which isn't great.||Spa area ok - sauna was nice, pool was small and not heated (despite reading it was a warm pool). There was also shouting kids so didn't stay long. Sauna only operates from 2pm to 8pm which is odd as most people are out and about at that time anyway.||Check in is very late (4pm) and check out is very early (10am). Luggage room unavailable so have to leave stuff in reception area and keep your fingers crossed nobody else comes and claims it. Normally in hotels you get tags and it's locked away. Staff did the bare minimum expected.||Overall definitely not a 4 star hotel - equivalent to a basic 3 star hotel in reality. Pictures and some fairly nice decoration make it look better than it is. Wouldn't stay again...
