We couldn't wait to return 'home' this year after unfortunately having to miss our ski holiday last year. As always, the hotel was fantastic. We stayed during a week when the hotel was fully booked, so we expected a busy week, but you'd never know - there was just a lovely, calm feeling - from check-in through to departure, we just relaxed the whole time. Our room was lovely, it is one of the smaller rooms in the front of the building, and the standard of room cleaning was fantastic - the room fairies were certainly the best. For us, the highlights of our week away are seeing the staff and Family Horl, enjoying the food and having a nice relax in the sauna - all three wishes came true! The only disappointment was that Sabine was poorly and away convalescing, but we kept in touch with her via social media and Werner and Anna, so although we missed seeing Sabine, we did manage to 'speak'. The staff throughout the hotel are great - too many to mention without leaving someone out, but as mentioned, the room fairies are top of their game, the restaurant staff are efficient, friendly and helpful - if it is possible, even during this busy week, they seemed even more efficient - we felt like VIP's but that's why we come here, the service is wonderful. We loved our time in the sauna, at the end of every day we relaxed in the Emotion spa, lovely and quiet and almost like having our own spa, with steam baths and saunas and an infrared cabin. We both agreed that somehow, despite the always high standards, the food this year was even better - we had lamb one night which was amazing, another night a thick tuna steak, cooked perfectly - the salad buffet is plentiful, the cheeses amazing, and the service always great - and as everyone knows, my treat is the breakfast - I cannot praise Erica enough, or the two omelette chefs (one was a young man who was as good as his mentor, who has been there for decades). We had a new table position this year, a change from our usual table but even nicer, with the same great views of the garden. We joined the ice curling evening, organised by Werner at the leisure Centre, always great fun, and we enjoyed seeing Walter again and having a Gluhwein on the welcome evening. A special thanks to the reception staff too, who really help and look after you, and of course Anna and Werner who are everywhere and the best hosts you could hope for. One final treat on departure day, or depression day as we call it, was seeing Josef again before we left - he is fantastic! We had a lovely send off from him, and we cannot wait to come back, to feel pampered, relaxed and happy! Thank you to the whole hotel, and we hope Sabine is taking it easy now that you...
Read moreAmazing hotel , with food that leaves u questioning if your mom can even cook at all.
The hotel is a long standing building with all the history on its walls. Dating back way before the ww.
When you arrive, you are welcomed by some of the most welcoming and happy people in all of Europe, and you won't blame them because
When you wake on the first day and walk out of the hotel, you will be met with some of the most picturesque views of mountains that you will ever see.
You are a 5 min walk through a old town, which can be done in slippers, it was so easy (not advised btw) to city exspress ( your first big lift up the mountain. Where there is a very large brúndl sports (I advise hiring here as they store skis for free if u hire from them) saves having the up hill ski boot walk. Zell am see ski school also there and very good instructors i recommend.
If you don't hire from there you can store skis in "ski room" at the hotel.
After going up the mountain and having your day in the snow , you will make your way through the old town where apri ski will be buzzing, karaoke bars, underground schnaps tastings, wine bars, waffle houses, you name it.
You will find a need to head straight to the spa thou that opens at 6pm, where you can start to unwind. Sauna , steam room jacuzzi , indoor outdoor pool etc. You can ask at the front dest for sauna oils and if looking for a intimate kinda thing you can book a private spa session hence why it closes at 8 😉. There is a separate nude section so if you are slightly more religious, you don't have to see anything that you don't want to. Or if you into that kinda thing, well be free little friend be free.
From there, you will head off to dinner where food will blow your mind. Scrumptious Buffet starters and outrageously delicious dessert met in the middle by table service mains. Leave you at the end of your stay, wishing you packed more stretchy pants. All meals have a suggested wine pairing , I can not advise more strongly to do this. It's like every bottle gets sealed with an angel's blessing.
If you have not fallen asleep yet, you can head over to the bar/hall area where u can sit by the fire and enjoy and drink of your choosing. If you are unsure the barmen is incredibly knowledgeable of local schnapps and aperitif he is more than willing to advise, that's if you don't want a cocktail 😜.
The rooms are spacious for a ski resort and beds large and comfy.
Only down side the hotel rooms are way too hot and if u sleep with the window open with it is amazing... the local after pub traffic gets very noisy.
That being said I will go back to Hotel Romantik again and again and again and again and...
Read moreWhat a wonderful experience we had at Romantik Hotel Zell am See! From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in a sense of luxury and comfort that made our stay truly memorable.
Our hotel room was lovely—plush, modern, and beautifully decorated with a regal touch and a hint of glitz. It felt like a perfect retreat. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a fantastic shower and an additional close-up makeup mirror, which was perfect for getting ready. The lighting throughout the room was excellent, with plenty of lamps and a powerful overhead chandelier that created a warm and inviting atmosphere. We even had a comfy couch aswell!
Cleanliness was clearly a priority here; everything was spotless, and the housekeeping service was exceptional. Each day, they went above and beyond, even organizing my dressing gown nicely on the bed sheets, which I thought was a cute touch.
We also enjoyed a lovely balcony where we could sit outside and savor drinks and snacks while taking in the beautiful surroundings. The wardrobes were spacious and well-equipped, adding to the overall comfort of our stay.
The spa was a highlight of our visit, offering a relaxing and soothing atmosphere that smelled wonderfully of pine. With a lovely hot tub, swimming pools, sauna, steam rooms, and a fantastic range of massage treatments, it was the perfect place to unwind. I indulged in a pine facial and an Arnica leg massage, both of which were delightful.
The staff at Romantik Hotel Zell am See were incredibly friendly and helpful. On our first day, the receptionist even assisted me with my suitcase, which was a lovely gesture.
However, there were a couple of minor disappointments. The hot tub was cold on two occasions, which was unfortunate as I had hoped to relax in the warm water after a long hike in the mountains. Additionally, the swimming pool was also freezing on one day. It was a bit temperamental, but we still enjoyed the facilities overall.
Another point to note was that our room was located above the garage block, which felt a bit odd as we had to walk through a car park to access the spa.
We also tried the restaurant one evening, and the food was very nice. However, my husband felt a bit unwelcome during his visits to the bar, where he encountered some confusion regarding service and payment. It took a while to get served, which was a bit frustrating.
Despite these minor issues, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely return in the future. The location was amazing, and we loved every moment of our time at Romantik Hotel...
