Here are my PLUS’es and MINUS’es, after a short description. ||The hotel has two names, Landshark Inn and Coco Plum. Maybe a name change ongoing, but I don’t know which is the old or the new one. Landshark Inn is on a signboard outside, not Coco Plum. || We stayed a week in March 2017, booked on airbnb. The place is an ordinary hotel, not a private home, as said on airbnb. Any Mrs Johnson was never present, she is an agent. The restaurant was under renovation, no service.||It's 3 two storey buildings and a front desk & restaurant building in a square, with a small pool in the middle. ||+PLUS+:||+On second floor rooms facing the pool are big and light, with balconies. Ground floor is more dark. Ground floor rooms facing the back of the houses have patios. ||+Public transport is excellent. Small buses, 20 passengers, run all the time, without time tables. 10 km to the city, buses frequent, even if they stop running at 7 pm, which was a surprice. They pass airport as well, you don't need to take a taxi! Bus nr 12B to the airport, for $1,25. ||+Beaches, many restaurants and two supermarkets are close by, walking distance, both West and East on the highway West Bay Street. Please explore the surrounds, there are some gems to visit, e.g. Marley Resort&Spa a small walk westward. ||+Most of the staff (not all) were friendly and talkative, even the builders and cleaners that worked there. We got many advice from them, sometimes better than from the front desk. ||||--MINUS--:||-The location of the hotel is not the one marked on airbnb's Google map. It is 1,3 miles /2 km further West on the main road. ||-The hotel is along West Bay Street, the most busy highway on the island, and traffic noise is remarkable. ||-Receptionist didn’t find the key to our room when we checked in. Half an hour later I went there again, she had a key. ||-A few of the staff at front desk did not show attention and friendliness to guests. One of them did not look at me when I asked a question, she continued to use the her computer while talking to me. Maybe a gender issue, my husband got more attention.||-Noisy people having party in the pool/bar area some late nights, even if the restaurant was closed/under renovation. Front desk said noise until midnight was OK according to the rules. Anyway, it continued to 1 am, so we had to go down and say some sharp words. Then it stopped. ||-The whole site is shabby. Building standards look very amateurish and tatty, garden beds are not well maintained. ||-The room had very few furniture: a bed (waa comfortable), a TV-table and only one nightstand by the bed. I missed one on the other side. One long wall shelf and racks for clothes, but no hangers. Only one chair on the balcony, no table. We borrowed one more chair from the pool area. The AC device improvised as table. Later we got a small table there, after requesting it. ||-AC had no adjustment possibilities, only full speed or off, and was very noisy. AC air outlet was full of dust and dirt, should be cleaned. Luckily there was a quiet fan in the ceiling that worked fine. ||-A signboard on the road said "Restaurant now open" but there was no restaurant. The restaurant area was under renovation (end of March 2017), the place was an ongoing building project, with sounds and noises accordingly. I read here that when restaurant is open, locals have parties there late nights and disturb guests wanting to sleep. ||-Wifi very poor most of the time. Often no wifi for a half or a whole day. ||||||All in all, Coco Plum/Landshark Inn was an OK place to stay, considering the price. Most of the hotels in Nassau area are muuuch...
Read moreMy spouse and I were only staying in Nassau for two days so we figured this $100 hotel should suffice and wouldn't be that bad since we didn't really plan on being in the room. The sign for the MOTEL (that's what it looks like) says Land & Shark resort. The room looked ok when we walked in we didn't have high expectations so we accepted it. The problem was the 2 pillows which I swear they had since 1985 with the ripped pillowcases. There's no phone in the room. The sheets had brown stains on them but luckily I had brought my own blanket. The volume on the TV didn't work, but more importantly there was no water!!!!!! It literally dripped out the faucet and shower head. The toilet wouldn't flush at all! We complained to the front desk and apparently they can turn the pressure up but I suppose the sorry owner tells them not to until someone complains. ||||The second night around 2 am a man came and knocked on the door and I'm going to assume he had the wrong room because he stood there for a while(i looked through the peephole). Of course we didn't answer but it's still nerve wrecking. Every morning there were about 10-15 kids out near the pool so I'm assuming it's a youth center as well. They were respectful and quiet it just surprised me to see so many children at 7/8 am in the pool. While we sat by the front desk DAILY there was about 5/6 different people to ask for towels and never got them. They only give you 2 of each when you check in. We brought our own towels and washcloths so that didn't affect us.||||The morning we were to check out, there was absolutely NO water even when the front desk turned up the water nothing came out. We were livid !! The front desk worked on it for about an hour and still nothing. We had just came back from the beach and needed to catch a flight so you can imagine how upset we were becoming. There was no maintenance personnel on duty so the desk clerk was clueless. We had to use a gallon of water that we bought from the grocery store.||||The pros was the front desk and their customer service which was awesome especially Ms Wallace. We were walking walking distance from cable beach, the grocery store, and a couple of fast food restaurants. Area is quiet but you're pretty far from the straw market and fish market but you can catch the bus for $1.25. Everyone in the Nassau was friendly!!||||The cons was the entire hotel. The owner needs to invest in the property instead of dealing with complaints and having to refund people. We did get our money back from both nights but not through the hotel. I honestly wouldn't return to Nassau unless it was a cruise you don't get the bang for your buck there EVERYTHING is expensive and yet seems cheap, except that $1.25 bus. I wouldn't recommend at all just pay a little extra...
Read moreWhen we first got to the hotel, it had a restaurant and a cigar shop in the front. No where did we see Coco Plum. It was a completely different name. At first we thought we had been duped by the cab man. This should not even be called a hotel. It is completely not up to par! The check in process is a flimsy piece of paper where you fill out your first name (waste of time). The front desk person grabbed a couple of towels. We couldnt use any of it cos we brought our own. The towels were discolored and looked dirty. The first room she went to had luggages in there and reeked of smoke. She had us go to another room, did not even apologize. Just pathetic! The decor in the room looks like a DIY project. They grabbed a few woods and nails and fixed it up themselves. NOTHING appealing about this place. Not even the pool!
This hotel is a complete misrepresentation of the real picture. Had I known before hand, I would not even pay $30.00 for this nasty place. I took plenty of pics to prove my point. Dirty, nasty sheets. Spring mattress, like seriously?! I was beyond repulsed. If we could get our money back, we would! Thankfully hubby listened to me and only booked one night before hand. He could not even close his eyes. We skipped taking a shower that night and could not wait to leave. We left super early and booked the Courtyard by Marriott downtown. We were allowed to check in very early at the Marriott, which was a life saver!
Coco plum is false advertising and should not even be on the list of available hotels in the Bahamas. It sure gives it a bad name. Shut it...
