Sakura Sushi Asia Restaurant — Restaurant in New Providence

The worst place to go for take out, when I phoned they did say it would take 40 mons, I got there 50 minutes later, ask for my order, the cashier says I don't work in the kitchen so I don't know how long it will be, a big order comes out 30 mons later, I ask if that was my order, her response is I don't know and continues with what she was doing, very unpleasant. Another 20 minutes past, a gentleman comes to the front, I asked him if that was my order, he said yes this is the sushi, my order was waiting for the sushi, I said ok, went to get my order, the tiramisu was not ready as yet. At this ridiculous point, I told the cashier to cancel the tiramisu, she served two other people first and when she returned back to the front, the tiramisu was ready. The other lady gave me the desserts, the cashier rested my receipt in front of me without an apology from either of them for the wait and the gentleman handed me my food order asking if I wanted a complimentary lemonade which I knew I would also have to wait for. At least i was offered something for the time but customer service in this establishment is poor and when you are spending your money where other options exist, it is just ridiculous. Food was pretty good, HORRIBLE SERVICE. I came in with a party of 10 at 6:50, and we called in advance. Upon arrival there was no other customers in the restaurant and we decided to start with appetizers and drinks. I figured we could’ve ordered food when the appetizers came out (as far as I know this is how most places do it,) but the waitress said we had to wait until drinks came out to order, and the bartender was eating dinner. (Really confused as to why we couldn’t order while we were waiting on drinks.) Finished all the appetizers and waited a while for the drinks to arrive. It was now almost 8 and we STILL haven’t even been able to order entrees. Finally the drinks came out (sodas and stuff like that which took over an hour) and we were able to order, and the food came out in an understandable amount of time. We love Sakura Sushi - especially my 6-year-old grandboy. We usually dine-in but decided to do take out. I would say their take- out wait time is totally unacceptable. I placed a take-out order via phone at 11:04 AM for gyoza and an avocado roll and was told 30 minutes pick-up time. We received the order 55 minutes later! In my view, the items were not prepared until we arrived at the restaurant to pick up the order and with a very hungry child, that wait seemed even longer!

When dining in, the service is excellent - very friendly staff - great food especially their Singapore noodles; we've never had a bad meal. However, I gave a 1-star rating for service due to our long wait time for a very simple order. We hope to see improvement in the future as this is a convenient...
