Representatives from this organization ruined two days of our honeymoon in Nassau, Bahamas. Lying on the beach at our all inclusive resort, we heard people going up and down advertising half-priced Atlantis tickets. My husband asked what it was all about. The rep (Ken) told us Paradise Island Beach Club Resort was looking for visitors to check out the beach club resort so that we might consider staying there next time and to tell other people how nice it is. If you go, you get a gift of half-price Atlantis tickets. I specifically asked if it was a time share presentation, and his response was "no, not really, it's just checking the place out with no pressure." He said you come for lunch, look around, and would be back on the beach in an hour and a half. We signed up and left at 11am. After speaking to two greeters who asked us all sorts of questions, name, birth dates, address, income, we were introduced to our tour guide who right away began using every cheesy sales technique you can think of. He first took us to what appeared to be an unfortunate staff lounge where there was "breakfast," the only thing that looked safe to eat was the bottled water. He then proceeded to ask us three pages of personal questions and presented timeshare options in scribbles on a blank pad of paper that quite frankly we did not understand. At one point, he pressured us into removing our glasses to look each other in the eye and commit to going there on vacation each year. After we started to question things, he brought out his manager, who he told I was the problem with us not accepting the timeshare.
The manager was so enthusiastically fake until I started to say I wanted to leave due to the time. She said she was giving me a shirt for my time, which of course I never got. When I tried to talk to my husband directly, she interrupted and would let me. When I continued to say that we were weren't making a snap decision on a timeshare presentation we didn't even know we were getting into, she called over a third person, stood up, ripped all all the papers she was scribbling offers on, and called me closed minded. My husband said we don't want to waste anymore of anyone's time, she scoffed and walked away. The third person was a huge man who focused on me and why I wasn't agreeing, though he was the kindest and soon let us get up. When we got up no one directed us how to leave, we had to ask. The original of the three salespeople walked us out and said that he felt sorry for my husband and kids because my "husband wanted this for us all." We then waited 45 minutes for someone to drive us back to our own resort. We were at the beach club for three hours without driving time (which was 25 minutes each way).
Finally, the big screw over -- We were told we would get the half-off Atlantis tickets the next morning. The rep from the beach and the driver (Edwin) said Edwin would pick us up at 9:45 am the next day to get the tickets and go to Atlantis. They took our room number and cellphone number to text. We were out waiting by 9:35 the next morning. No one ever showed or contacted us. We called to the beach club through our concierge three times. Told the first time that someone was coming but they didn't know when. Hung up on the second time after holding. No answer the third time. We waited until 11:15. Another 2 hours taken from our vacation, about 7 hours of sun lost in total.
The kicker is we happened to run into all of them outside our hotel the morning after that. Only the driver Edwin acknowledged us. I couldn't talk to any of them. He told my husband they had left tickets for a glass boat tour (which we'd already done) at our hotel desk for us and that the Atlantis deal was no more so that's why he didn't pick us up. We asked our hotel and nothing had ever been left for us and no one tried to connect us.
If that is how this timeshare organization treats people, I can't imagine the hell it must be to actually have a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur family of 5 (kids age 14,12,11) had a fantastic trip to Paradise Island! Mostly in part due to the spectacular Cabbage Beach - it is so beautiful. We have travelled to many Caribbean beaches, so I have lot of comparables to work with.||As for Paradise Island Beach Resort, I will start with the cons (but there are many positives here!):||CONS: |- This place advertises that it has wifi, but that is far from fact. While we did have a modem in our unit, our wifi literally never worked at all the entire week. Seems this is a resort wide issue after talking to other guests there. We did mention this to the staff, who did their best to assist, even called in the IT guy, but it never actually worked, ever. The staff were kind enough to provide us with the staff wifi password, however, that also rarely worked. Iām talking, maybe it worked 10 min the entire week. We ended up burning through most of our own data. Please expect this when you go. ||- All units are 2 bd/2bath. While spacious, like everyone else has noted, they are extremely outdated. It was a bit shocking walking in at first - like a time warp to the late 80ās Iād say. However, we didnāt go to spend the days in the unit and we quickly got used it to. The king bed though seemed too old and was not flat - causes a bit of back pain - but the beauty of the beach made it seem not so bad. I will say though that the couch in the living room and the dressers in the bedroom seem fairly new. I should note that the entire resort is quite outdated. This is a time share resort, with only 10 years remaining on it, after which it will be demolished we have been told - my guess is that they are putting the least amount of money into it for that reason which is understandable. If you go knowing this, itās not so bad.|- Other reviews and I believe the website notes that there are bikes you can take out. We had a good laugh when we realized that the only bike available is a rusty childās BMX bike that is from the 80ās with a kick stand you can hardly put up. Donāt expect bikes. They are not there. ||PROS:|- The units, pools, and resort in general is very very clean. |- The kitchen is very well equipped.|- This resort sits on an absolute amazing part of Cabbage beach. Not crowded and walking distance to Atlantis and a few restaurants. |- The food and drinks available are great!|- The staff are so nice and accommodating |- You can change your beach towels whenever you like and they are clean and good quality|- Beach chairs and umbrellas available and there is no fighting for them at all|- Resort is small - only 44 units, so the place feels quaint which is what we wanted|- The is gym is great! Quite large and has everything you need with good equipment. |- Bedding and towels in the unit were very clean||Would we stay here again? We absolutely would. For us, this beats a large all inclusive any day. And honestly, the price point reflects the fact that it is indeed outdated. If you go expecting it to be comparable to a five star, prepare to be disappointed. If you go looking to spend time on a spectacular beach with friendly staff and clean accommodations, youāll have a fantastic time. ||Things to note - the closest grocery store is a 10 min taxi drive away|- Nassau airport is not far at all. Maybe a 20 min taxi ride |- there is a restaurant and store right beside it. We loved the restaurant and the store has booze and all the necessities...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook a mom daughters trip in April 2023 and was not thrilled with the accommodations. Disclaimer, I am not a bougie, high maintenance guest when going to beach resorts. All I need is a comfy bed, the beach and coffee available.... Cabbage beach was STELLAR! that was the best part of this vacation..||We were in room #24 which had an ocean view. The decor was outdated and the linens and decor were not exactly what the website shows. The twin beds were not comfortably and the linens were so thin and not cozy at all. They were similar to cheap motel fabric, with a soft sheet underneath which was a plus. The pillows were ok. We did have a nice ocean view, which was lovely. I noticed the patio table top glass was cracked. The whole unit needs updating. Little touches here and there go a long way, like replacing the shower curtain in the guest bathroom which was moldy, as well as replacing the piece that opens and closes the mini blinds that was also broken. The coffee machine worked fine and the A/C was excellent!! The front of our unit faced a chain link fence, that the public walks through to goto the beach, I recommend adding more greenery for privacy. The whole resort was probably gorgeous in its hay day, however now it needs a lot of TLC IMHO. It is like a blast from the past in the 80's!!!! The grounds could use more plush greenery throughout the resort. There is a bar and grill by the pool. There is NO DAILY BREAKFAST AT THE RESORT AT ALL!!! Only on the weekends. We finally had breakfast on Saturday and everything was stale and tasted terrible. The coffee was not good at all. Lunch was VERY GOOD!!!! Loved the burger and mahi sandwich! You basically get served food and drink when staff decides to show up. The drinks are good, I recommend drinking during happy hour as it gets pricey if you ask for an extra shot of alcohol!! There is a mini mart around the corner and they have the basics, just no half and half and no regular jelly for PB&Js.. ||You cannot get a chair on the beach until 9am, for you early birds.. The older gentleman that brought the chairs to you on the beach wasn't the most pleasant. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating!! Beautiful staff at the resort! Warm and welcoming. |||PROS: |CABBAGE BEACH IS GORGEOUS! |Staff are welcoming and courteous||CONS:|Appears run down and needs major updates in rooms and grounds|Location not convenient, need a cab to go anywhere|NO COFFEE IN SIGHT only to be made in my room...
