Lengthy review with information for tourists: Cabbage beach is a very beautiful beach located on Paradise Island. The shoreline is always kept clean and and free of sea weed. Most Nassuvians frequent this beach as it's the prettiest beach closest in driving distance to our island. It's also my favorite place to swim during low tide in the summer. Info for tourists: There are multiple entrances to this beach. Two main entrances are free, hotel entrances may not be. So ask your taxi driver to take you to the free beach or free entrance to the main beach on Paradise Island. Once you arrive, if you don't want to be hassled by local vendors selling stuff, as soon as you reach the shore of the beach, take a right and walk towards the eastern part of the beach. The eastern point is the opposite direction of all of the hotels. Keep going until you are no longer surrounded by tons of people. You will know you are going in the right direction if you see rocks leading out to the ocean. Wheel chair info: One of the free entrances is wheel chair accessible, but involves a bit of a steep incline for the first half of the way and right at the end. While the other free entrance includes steps to get on to the beach. My mother who has issues with her knees prefers the former as the steps can be tricky to navigate when you get to the last two steps. Those last few steps are steep. Other info: Don't swim during high tide. You may not need to worry though as Atlantis and Comfort Suites hotels often close their access to the beach when the tide is high. However, if you take one of the free entrances and find yourself still able to access the beach during high tide, know that the large waves have a dangerous undertoe. That undertoe can pull you under very easily and keep you under for awhile until the waves break at the shoreline. If you aren't experienced at holding your breath, It wouldn't be wise to brave those waves. Please, especially with kids, be safe. To avoid all of this, just go on a hot day, when it's not windy. You will definitely find a calm beach with tranquil waters waiting for you to splash and swim around in them. It's so nice to relax at this beach. Just know that a visit is always worth it, even if you aren't able to swim because of high tide. However, if you find yourself there during high tide, just grab your towel, sit, enjoy the breeze, read a book, build a sand castle, chat, etc. and stay to watch the sunset. It's still worth it. Pictures from multiple trips to the beach: The first few photos show cabbage beach as high tide is building up in the evening during sunset. The last few pictures are mid-day when the sun is bright and the waters are calm and perfect for swimming.

Disclaimer: this is a review from a solo traveler. The beach itself was beautiful. Once you got into the water, it was a little rough with little biting animals. While I was swimming I could feel little stings, like something was biting me & left marks. Turns out it was little jellyfish! Now onto lounging on the sand. Every 5-10 minutes a vendor tried to sell something to me, from pineapple drinks to cigars to shells. Mind you this is after I spent $45 for a chair & umbrella! There are also so many tourists and people i general. It felt like I was competing for space in the ocean. I wouldn’t recommend this beach to anyone looking for a little peace and quiet, b/c it definitely wasn’t that.

For cruise goers: take a taxi from the port terminal (plan about $5 per person each way) to get away from the crowds to this beautiful, free beach. Locals offer chairs and drinks and trinkets, but not aggressively so (although they are always circling). Note you can negotiate as you keep walking past them without stopping (it really is preferable to get some chairs, though). We’ve now been here twice and love coming with our kids so they can experience some fun waves. Note to keep young ones nearby and in life jackets (you bring!) as the surf is quite strong and there are no life guards. But that also means do what you want and have fun!!!

Beach is gorgeous and stunning. We bought unlimited drinks from a shady vendor who left the beach soon after we bought our first drinks, but that is small potatoes.

I have an urgent warning and need to advise caution.

DO NOT get in that water if it at all looks rough. I understand that it may have been just a rough day when I was there, still, it seemed manageable. I legit about drowned. Had I been carrying a child I don't know how it would have turned out. As soon as the waves hit my knees and the water receded, the sand was washed out from under my feet, I fell, and I was caught in what seemed like a never ending cycle of washed out and spit up on the beach. I am a very inland country boy from the states and about half ignorant, I just didn't realize why no one at all was swimming and the red flags weren't easily visible, heck, I didn't know what a red flag even meant beforehand. Just be careful people, I wasn't the only one that day. Now, other than that it really was a...
