This pousada is a good find for Ilha Grande. The location is fairly good, about a 5 minute walk from the centre of Vila do Abraao, and about a 3 minute walk from the beach. ||||The grounds of this pousada are a tropical oasis. Plenty of tropical fruit trees, and flowers and vegetation. If you are from a non-tropical country, like us, I think you will find it amazing and relaxing.||||We stayed in the Abiu room. We found the room fairly large, and the bathroom fairly large too. The room consisted of A/C, a TV, a small fridge, a large bed, a dresser, and a bathroom which included a shower and a large tub. You are unlikely to use the tub because it would require a lot of warm water to fill, and most likely you would run out of warm water before filling it. We liked the room.||||Breakfast was wonderful. Breakfast usually consisted of an assortment of breads, cereals, fruits, cheese, some meats as well as yogurt, milk, coffee and tea. Plenty to eat for breakfast.||||They have WiFi, but I found it worked poorly, which is likely the case for any pousada on the island. Internet connection for the whole island is poor.||||The owners were very friendly and cheerful, and a pleasure to meet. I noted that Portuguese, Spanish, French and English were spoken by the owners or their staff. They kept our room very clean, and were helpful with directions. Direct communication via e-mail with the owners was a great way of communicating with them prior to arrival, and they were very responsive to my questions.||||We found the pousada to be a fairly good value, and they accepted credit cards, but charged a small percentage above the cost for use. All and all, it’s a good location, good value, beautiful grounds, wonderful owners and a...
Read moreStaying at the Casa Grande in Abraao was the best decision we could possibly make! Greeted with warmth and hospitality by the owners (they even remembered our names) we couldn't be happier to have chosen this Pousada.||The breakfast was varied and full of self-made deliciousness! The coffee (made by a local coffeemaker) was so good, that we nearly couldn't stop drinking it!||And the owners! Nilson and Yayoi were so friendly and assisted us in everything we've asked them. They were one of the reasons why we decided to stay two more nights (more than planned)!||The house is lovely with a huge garden and lots of wildlife, birds, chicken and of course the owners dog.||The rooms were very luxurious and couldn't have been better :)||I recommend all of you to go there, when on Ilha Grande, it made our experience on the island one of the best we've had on our whole Brazil-trip!!||||||Thank you Nilson and Yayoi for really everything, you two are...
Read moreAmazing hosts, Yayoi and Nilson. We had so many great chats with Yayoi in English and in French.
This place is a hidden heaven. Beautiful garden with so many trees. The breakfast here always had fresh fruits from the garden and with local bread.
Each room has a mosquito-net which drapes over the bed, and this was a lifesaver for me.
The location is a very short walk away from the loud and bustling part of the town, so you can relax and enjoy the island among nature and head out for food/drinks!
When you are looking for the pousada, walk down the main street, and right before the bridge you will see a sign for Casa Grande. Walk through the gate and the road will split into two and there's a bicycle under the sign for the other accommodation. Follow the path to the right and you will arrive at this hidden paradise.
P.S. WiFi is stronger by the...
