First the good: Awesome view and location, clean rooms, and breakfast was absolutely great or floor was quiet and air conditioning worked. I was drawn by the great reviews and opted to pay the 60% increase for a balcony with an ocean view. We received a corner balcony not large enough for chairs. All you can do is stand out there. CHECK IN: Our check in person didn't greet us; even though I made the reservation and handed him my US Passport he opted to take my wife's Brazilian ID and only speak with her. He didn't confirm our room choice, made no mention of the fact that the balcony would need to be unlocked; no mention of the included breakfast or the times for breakfast, and dinner, no metion of the bar or coffee bar; didn't ask if we had a car... When it was clear he had already completed the check in we asked if we had a balcony with an ocean view and he said, "Probably." The bad check in experience started off us on the defensive. ROOM: At the room we couldn't open the balcony becasue it was locked and asked the maid to have it opened. She told us to call the front desk. We asked for the number, she didn't know. Not a big deal, but this is the important information that the check in person should have covered. Later, we asked the maid where the bar was so we could get a snack and a drink...she said that bar was in the restaurant. We went there and they were closed until 8PM and they sent us to the coffee bar on another floor. I asked what kind of whiskey they use for an "old Fashioned" the coffee bar server said he didn't know and had to call the bar. It was then we figured out that even the bar was closed, they will make a drink on that floor and the coffee bar server has to go up and get it. The guy at the coffee bar disappears all the time becasue he apparently also has to make deliveries. DINNER: Great view, and we opted for the al-a-carte. We ordered the Carpaccio as an appetizer and the waiter said, "two?" We said no, just one and then he said OK, but they are really small and made for one person. So we ordered two and received two big plates of Carpaccio! He wouldn't take one back until we talked the manager who he sent to our table. That was weird. Normally a server has the authority to do take back orders without creating a spectacle. The Seafood Risotto had a burnt taste the Rack of Lamb was good but, came just warm and not hot. CHECK OUT: They do not have an express check out. You have to wait in line and that's how we ended our stay...waiting in...

Read moreThe Majestic Hotel offers an overall decent experience, but there is a significant issue with the room’s dampness. The musty odor is overwhelming, and my clothes quickly absorbed the unpleasant smell due to the lack of windows for ventilation—aside from the air conditioning. While I would be eager to return due to the exceptional five-star service, the breakfast leaves room for improvement. I would rate it four stars, as it lacks that final touch. The variety of main dishes could be changed more frequently, and offering sparkling wine or champagne would elevate the experience to match the standards expected of a five-star hotel. Additionally, providing welcome water in the room should be a standard amenity for a hotel of this caliber.
While most of the staff are friendly, some do not come across as genuine. Upon my arrival, I was disappointed to find that I was assigned a dirty room after requesting an early check-in. Furthermore, I was mistakenly charged for drinks consumed by the previous guest. Although the manager removed the charges, no sincere apology was offered, nor was any attempt made to make amends, such as offering a complimentary drink. This lack of consideration left us feeling upset.
I visit Florianópolis annually and would love to return to this hotel, but the dampness issue is a serious concern that requires the attention of upper management. The only aspect of my stay that lived up to five-star standards was the dinner, which was excellent and well-executed.
I hope my feedback is taken constructively, as my intent is to help improve the guest experience. My words should be viewed as suggestions to turn into action, with the goal of encouraging...
