I had a bunk bed in a dorm, and luckily only 2 of the 4 beds were occupied which left us plenty of space. There are two lockers per occupant in the room, bring your own padlock (only a small one fits!) or you can buy one at the reception.||breakfast is included in the rate and I found it a bit above average (juice, coffee, milk, bread, jam, butter, cheese, ham, cake, fruit; a sandwich grill to toast it all..yum), as is free drinking water.||the rooms, sheets and bathrooms are clean and the staff is happy to help if you ask.||I found the location very convenient as the metro is only a few blocks away. note that the centro is rather deserted during weekends and evenings although I usually felt safe walking around on my own. the air condition is only working at night which can make it really hot during the day. also the wifi broke down several times per day while I was there which can make chatting/skyping very annoying although it's fine for checking emails. I'm not sure whether this is a permanent problem though. on balance, I would recommend this place though I've been in better hostels (and...
Read moreI stayed here for a few nights at the beginning of March. The staff member who checked me in (I believe her name was Sandra?) was courteous, polite and helpful. I was traveling with a lot of luggage and there were some other guys there who were super helpful in assisting with it :) The gent who checked me out was also very helpful and friendly. All the other staff I encountered were polite and welcoming, except for one lady who I would see at breakfast. She wasn't very friendly and would usually not greet back when I would greet her in the mornings. The room was decent and there was enough space for all of us (6 bed female dorm). I never struggled to find a free shower and overall my stay was smooth and pleasant. The hostel is situated close to the centre with easy access to pretty much everywhere. There is a supermarket close by as well as restaurants and bars all within a few minutes away. Great value for money and I would consider staying here again if I find myself...
Read moreGood cheap hostel near the Centro of Rio. Perfect if you are traveling on a budget and/or need a convenient place to stay for a few days in Rio. Lots of food options around, including a bakery right under that sells outstanding food for around 10 reais. Towels are extra so bring your own if you can (generally a good idea for Brazil). The staff was great, very kind and had a happy vibe. The only downside and reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that the air con is controlled centrally and only on between 10pm-7am. We were there towards the beginning of Autum so not as bad but the airflow on the second floor is very poor so it gets warm. Sleeping was never an issue tho because the air-con does turn on like clockwork. If you can request a room on the bottom...
