I had the worst and most horrible experience of my life at this hotel. When I first entered the room I was given, I saw that there was already a couple staying in the room. We went to the reception together, they apologized and gave me another room. and then the nightmare began. I was robbed by the hotel staff. 2 employees at the reception and another hotel employee whose job I don't know entered my room. They jumped from the upper balcony to my room's balcony, I immediately opened the door and ran away, I went to the reception and there was no one, then someone came, I told him there was someone in my room to help. I reluctantly came with me. While we were waiting in front of the door, we both heard voices coming from inside, my belongings being rummaged through in a hurry. I told him to open my room door. He didn't open it. I said I'll check the next room, maybe there's someone there, and left. Then I said whatever happens, let it happen, and opened my own door with my card. They ran away quickly, but I saw them. The receptionists in white shirts and dark colored trousers. I threw myself out into the street in fear before I could put on my clothes. I went into the pharmacy right next to the hotel and asked for help. The owner of the pharmacy tried to help. He called the police but they said they couldn't come (it wasn't a surprise because according to my friends living in Brazil, the police work with these guys).||||A security guard who saw me on the street came to the hotel with me. The well-dressed manager or business owner-looking person who was constantly walking around there ordered something to the hotel staff. Then they said, please don't make a big deal out of it, these are your belongings, and returned my money, wallet, passport and phone (I had thrown them onto the balcony of the next room when I sensed someone was about to...
Read moreRead moreSummary:|- extremely loud|- not clean|- extremely high prices — if you expect that it will be worth it - it won’t|- could not check in on time ||Noise:|Unfortunately the loudest hotel I have ever been to. The walls are extremely thin - my neighbour had a cold and was sneezing and coughing the whole night and it feels like he is sneezing right next to you. Some of the air conditioning units are not mounted properly (each room has their own outdoor unit) and are extremely loud and vibrate. The first night my bed was vibrating because of the neighbour’a air conditioning. I could not find any sleep so I was given another room that unfortunately had the same problem (and it was a downgrade). I changed rooms 4 times in a 8 night stay) in a desperate attempt to find any sleep.|In the end I upgraded to the suite and was ripped off - ended up paying more per night than I would have if I had just booked the suite in the first place.||Cleanilyness:|To give an example of the overall state of cleanliness I add two pics of the blankets of the rooms that i found when I moved in. After informing the reception, they didn’t even change them the next day. The overall cleanliness level is not great - also compared to other Rio hotels.||General room set-up:|Rooms facing the street are very loud. It is not just the street noise but also the aircon that stands on the wooden floor of the balcony without any insulation underneath. The looks of the rooms are nice, if you don’t look closely. In one room the curtains were too slim to actually close fully, in my current room the windows facing the street don’t even close properly. View is not great as there are high buildings right...
I'm here now. I decided to take the time to write this review because we tend to forget how important every small act of kindness meant at the moment it happened and I keep getting those since the minute I stepped in this place yesterday at 7 am; asking for the cortesy for an early check in. We were greated by friendly - very human people - who immediatly started to look up rooms that would be clean for an early check in but already offered access to the facilities (pool / shower ) which was a life saver since my 10 yo daughter was having a melt down after and all night drive from Sao Paulo (5 + hours) and a jump in the ocean to celebrate the arrival leading to tones of unwanted salty/sand feelings for the next few hours lol We were also offered to grab a bite right before breakfast was being removed. Ms Vera who does some of the kitchen/cleaning work felt like an aunt that we had not seen in a while. Kind, helpful, sweet and with a infectious smile that made everything just feel so much more at easy. We finally checked in and the room was clean, quite, great bedding, shower, very silent and location is just amazing. Now; I have asked for options as far as a late check out or paying half a day since our flight is not until almost 10 pm and front desk checked availibility and immediatly granted us a courtesy extension until 2 pm ( was supposed to be 1200). Things like this matter so much when travelling with a child and juggling some unexpected issues that makes you feel like the universe got your back and sent you this way and of course; makes a return to Rio de Janeiro already have a stay place selected ! Thank you for everything Ritz...
