Spent a few days here and was welcomed and helped initially by Gelyce. She was wonderful, and offered a helpful hand after a stressful day of traveling.
The rooms are small, but the bathrooms are a good size. We had a queen bed (it’s 2 twins placed together, so straight down the middle is a piece of wood. If you don’t like your partner, easy to stay separated. If you want cuddles, it’s tough on the back), a mini fridge and a wardrobe with a safe.
Breakfast was great with many options and great service. We never tried dinner there but always saw people there ordering so I assume good food.
The one bad experience we had was with Pedro at reception. Guy was a tool to put it lightly (this won’t translate well but English speakers know what’s up). Our room cards had lost the ability to get us into the room - they were demagnetized. We went to the front desk and I told Pedro in Portuguese (I’m not fluent but I can get around) that the cards had been demagnetized and that we needed new ones. He looked at me confused and said (in English) “sorry sir, you’re using the wrong term” and proceeded to explain what had happened. He said “keep trying with your Portuguese.” Okay bro, just give me a new card please. Nah, he couldn’t even do that. Told us to come back later and get it after we went out to eat.
The next morning we hoped to see Gelyce there at the reception since she was so kind and helpful. Thankfully, she was there and treated us like human beings and not just some imbecile tourists.
All good, great stay overall. Pedro was just an inconvenience. May he learn some...
Read moreI'm not as happy as the other folks. The rooms are tiny, and the showers were cold. I can live with that but, what really kills it is the are hardwood floors and thin walls. The hardwood floors are very noisy particularly when folks schooch chairs or beds get adjusted. It gets really annoying at about ~8am if you still want to sleep. Housekeeping, or people just start to wake up, and every few minutes you hear "eeerrrrrgggg". We actually moved rooms thinking there was construction going on in an adjacent room, but with the 'new' room, a few floors away, had the same noise we realized it was the chairs, and/or beds being adjusted for the next customer. I guess they convert the twin beds into double beds all the time depending on demand (or visa versa). Suggestion: Maybe just put felt pads on the base of the legs? The staff was great and very helpful so no ding on them. Location is an A+. Both our rooms didn't have much of a view, but you get what you pay for so not complaining...
Read moreI gave this hotel 4stars because of its location to the Copacabana beach . Easy check In but the young lady at the desk knew little English. We inquired if there was complimentary water in our room and she said yes …but at check out we were charged for the water . Water should be complimentary when guest arrive from the airport . We were literally just 1 1/2 blocks from the famous Copacabana Beach . The rooms were adequate , typically smaller . The breakfast was quite nice actually with lots of choices . We ate a light dinner one evening and had two very delicious bowls of soup and the server was very pleasant and spoke very good English . Next door to the hotel was the Copacabana Palace theatre , which was having a performance that night , unfortunately we didn’t have tickets. The theater entrance was beautiful . Our hotel was also just behind the famous Copacabana Palace Hotel which faces the beach. Lots of fine dining within a few blocks...
