I liked the location of the hotel and the room facilities (comfy large bed, excellent shower, room was spacious and clean). Our check in was not great - despite doing online check in we still had to wait 30 min in queue. While we were waiting for our turn, one customer cut in line in front of everyone and reception staff did not ask the person to stand in line and stared servicing him. And this was not some quick request as the person was still at the desk making payments or sth when we already checked in. This was very unprofessional and also super rude to the waiting clients. After check in we went for lunch to hotel restaturant. The waitress was polite, but she forgot to bring coffee from our order. We reminded her, she apologized and promised to bring it. As nothing happened, we reminded her for 2nd time, she again apologized and promised to bring it. Instead, a different waiter came and brought warm milk with no coffee. My partner got very upset and we refused to pay for the "coffee". The right thing to do, was then for the waitress to offer the coffee for free and apologize. this did not happen, so we did not have coffee. Shame. Last day, we wanted to celebrate end of our trip to Brazil, we went to the bar and ask if we can order a bottle of wine. The barman told us he has not time to service us and told us to go to reception. This was confusing, but we went there. The receptionist was equally confused and she went with us to the bar to get clarity what this is about. The barman IN FRONT OF GUESTS again said he has no time to service guests and that basically the wines are in the fridge and the receptionist needs to deal with this. This kind of exchange should not be done in front of clients. The barman should have taken our order and asked for help once we left, not send us to reception, not argue with the receptionist in front of us. Unprofessional. Overall, hotel itself has great facilities/ location, but customer service is poor and client is not the...
Read moreWe stayed at Mercure Paulista for the first 5 days of 2025. The hotel was recommended by a friend living near by due to its great location. I had looked at the website and the photos before we made the booking and liked the simple, modern design and what looked like well maintained rooms. However, we were very disappointed at the run down state of that place. If it was only about its aged look, I would not be writing this. Unfortunately, the rooms were dirty. Just basic surface cleaned, but nothing beyond. One day something fell under the bed and I had to get it which made me see what was ‘down there’. Very unpleasant. We had to ask to have it vacuumed under the bed. The side tables’ bottom shelf corners had dust bunnies tightly packed into them, everything just felt dirty. We have allergies which became only more intensified while in the room. There was a certain scent in the room, as if someone sprayed some air freshener, which I believe came through the AC vents. That was pretty uncomfortable to sleep in. We had tea/coffee packages and cups in, but no kettle to make anything. Our room card had to be magnetized daily as it hardly worked. Everyone working there was very nice so that was the best part of the experience together with the location. It is sad that, it seems, due to the location the hotel is not maintaining...
Read moreWhen we arrived and had 4 luggages the nighttime porter did not even move to action to assist until I raised my voice a bit for assistance and that’s when he got out the luggage trolley. Later entering the room, it had an odor. Not stinky but the lived-in old hotel smell. The bathroom was clean but had small winged insects on the counter, flew in undoubtedly from the open circular window. Would we stay here again? The answer is Yes. The location in the Paulista area is hard to beat in its closeness to stuff to do like malls, stores, restos, convenience stores, Catholic Church, and a few tourist spots. There’s a nice Chinese restaurant right smack in front of the hotel. While waiting for our Uber, the daytime porter was thoughtful enough to remind me not to be be holding out my mobile phone on the curbside as thefts via motorbike snatching are rampant (something to remember anywhere in the city). On the day we checkout we still had like half a day before going to the airport and we were able to conveniently store our luggages with the hotel. So yeah, this hotel met our needs by and far. (Extra: I added a video of the direction of the water when flushed to those who want to compare and believe the southern hemisphere’s opposite that of the northern...
