I first stayed in the Fotinov back in around 2005 and since then have probably used it...at least 10 times. In the beginning, breakfast was served in Cafe Rosa, at a reduced price, but the Fotinov now has it's own small kitchen where they prepare the breakfast choices, which are a buffet style, available in the reception area.
The Fotinov's rooms are not huge, but they have en-suite facilities, decent TV with lots of channels...including several dedicated sports choices that allow you to watch the English Premier League matches, live. Some of the rooms to the front streetside can be slightly noisy from passing vehicle and pedestrian traffic...but this great little hotel is literally a 5 second walk to the main pedestrian street to the Sea Gardens and no more than a few minutes to the newly refurbished and redeveloped train and bus stations.
So good is Fontinov, that I have booked it for a 31 day stay throughout this coming May. Highly recommended for singles, friends and couples.
The staff here are super friendly and efficient and will make your stay and enjoyable one. Be aware that the Fotinov does not have a lift.
UPDATE. 04/05/2017: The Fotinov no longer offers a breakfast option. There is free tea and coffee from 08:00 - 11:00 and some cereals and biscuits. There is a microwave and a fridge in the small communal kitchen. This is not a problem as you can buy a breakfast in several local, cafe/bars. Look at spending BLV 5 -7 ppph...or currently about £2.50 - £3.00.
UPDATE: 17/10/2018. I am currently in the Fotinov on a short 15 day trip. Still a great little hotel which couldn't be closer to the centre than it is. The hotel has had new showers installed in the bathrooms...so you'll enjoy the new powerful system.
One tiny word of warning. The floor tiles in the bathrooms are NOT non slip, so extra care should be taken, especially if using shampoos and body gels. There is a small mat outside the bathroom door, which I generally use for the inside floor. Then simply leave it to dry on the balcony outside my room.
Highly...

The guesthouse is located right in the center of the city, just steps away from the main pedestrian streets and about 10-15 minutes stroll to the beach. There is parking available for the guests at the nearby hotel Fors, which is located a block away, so a short walk is required. The breakfast is also served there. Nearby are so many different places to eat and get coffee so the lack of restaurant is not an issue at all. ||||Rooms are cleaned daily. Most of the rooms have access to a small balcony with couple of chairs to sit and enjoy the summer mornings or evenings. The linens are clean and the towels are replaced often. Each room has a separate air conditioner.||||The staff is very friendly and accommodating and they will help if there is an issue.|| ||The street noise level is fine, especially if you are facing south or southwest. Read moreThe guest house is located just in the center down, walking distance to everywhere. In general the rooms are nice, cleaned every day, but though there was a "non smoking" sign, our room smelt unpleasantly. ||Staff was helpful and breakfast was provided in another hotel just 50 meters away. Breakfast was simple - coffee, bread, eggs, tomatoes, cucumber and pastries. Positive is that besides white bread they even had a bit darker bread ( though You cannot name it dark bread). Negative is that the second day they did not have any milk or even cream with coffee, which was really surprising! and the darker bread did not look fresh, was stiff ( not edible).||||In general for Bulgaria the guest house is a bit expensive, it is Okay to stay for couple of days.||||NB! There is a really nice coffee shop just 20 meters away from the Guest house, which was the most pleasant...
