Sunny Beauty is located in the Sunny Beach resort of Bulgaria on the Black Sea coast. The resort itself is very clean and has everything you need whether you are looking for a quiet break, a family holiday or a lively party resort. You feel safe walking around any part of the resort day and night. We were there on a family holiday and everywhere we went children were welcomed.||||This hotel consists of air conditioned, self catering accommodation with a small swimming pool, a very basic gym, bar and restaurant. The rooms do have small safety deposit boxes as advertised in the Balkan Holidays brochure but there is a local charge of 6 Lev (£3) per day which is not mentioned in the brochure. It also has free WiFi but it doesn’t always work and when it does work the signal is poor to non-existent in the bedrooms. I stood in the reception to pick up and send emails which I didn’t mind as it was better than paying my mobile phone roaming charges.||||We had a look at some reviews on websites before coming and in a lot of them there were photos of a building site to the rear of the hotel which is where the pool is located. The building has come on a lot since those photos were taken but still nowhere near finished. Most reports were saying that building work started after 9am so it wasn’t a problem but in our time there no building work took place so don’t be put off by that.||||Sunny Beauty Hotel is located about a 5-10 minute walk from the beach. For a family, the location is ideal because there are shops and restaurants nearby as well as a bus stop at the end of the road if you wish to venture further afield. Everything in the resort is within walking distance even for my 2 year old but yet far enough away from the noise of the resort.||||We found the hotel restaurant to be slightly dearer than other places and the quality was not as good as most places. Saying that, it really doesn’t matter because step out of the hotel door and there are plenty of other places to choose. Our favourite for quality and value was The Pacific Hotel which is just over the road to Sunny Beauty.||||Although it wasn’t a problem for us, the beds may be an issue for some people in this hotel. The main bed is extremely low – about 8 inches off the floor. I have included a photograph to demonstrate this and a 1.5 litre bottle of water stands taller than the bed. The pull down bed in the living room is extremely hard. It was ok for my 5 and 2 year old as they don’t care where they sleep but for bigger children I think this may be a problem.||||The only reason I have marked this hotel down is due to the hotel’s attitude towards maintenance. ||||On arrival we noticed that the toilet seat was hanging on by a thread and was prone to moving a lot. This was reported to staff immediately as we considered it could be dangerous for our two young children. Despite our best efforts the toilet seat remained in the same condition for the duration of our stay. ||||On our first day we realised that the air conditioning unit in the bedroom wasn’t working. We reported this to the hotel staff who tried to get it working but couldn’t. They told us that someone would see to it in the morning. We were unable to get anyone to fix this either.||||On our second day we went to open our safety deposit box (located under the kitchen sink) which had over a £1000 worth of digital camera equipment in it and were horrified to find the deposit box surrounded in water from the sink outlet pipe. Luckily the water had not penetrated the security box. Again we were told that this would be fixed but as you have probably guessed by now it wasn’t fixed before we went home.||||I can understand that perhaps the air conditioning unit is more expensive and more complicated to fix but come on Sunny Beauty, how hard is it to fit a new toilet seat and replace a washer in the sink unit? It makes you feel like they have got your money and don’t care. It is because of this attitude I perceived that I didn’t...
Read moreSunny Beach is such a beautiful place to visit and we love Bulgaria but if we were to come back again we would definitely choose a different hotel. ||We arrived at gone midnight from a 4pm flight from Birmingham and was handed a bag with some dried croissants, a muffin and an apple. We went into our room and the electric socket was hanging off the wall, the fridge didn’t work and was filthy and we had three single beds although we had booked a double room. ||We tried to ring reception but the phone didn’t work so we went downstairs to talk to them and they said we could move rooms but not until the morning when the day staff came in. We never got to move rooms.||The problem with the electrics and fridge went on all week, they just kept swapping the fridge and saying it worked. The day before we left the handy man came barging into our room even though the Do not disturb sign was on so I sent him away as we were still in bed. He then came back later barging in again without knocking as I was getting out of the shower. He spoke no English but was shouting at us and showing us we were wrong as the socket was showing it lights up on his device. When we showed him it didn’t on our extension lead he still shouted and plugged the tv in and realised then it wouldn’t work. We said it’s the socket that needs sorting as it had done all week and I showed him the picture. Once he saw that he said sorry, shook my husbands hand and then fixed it (this is the day before our departure).||The day off our departure we had a late flight and wasn’t being picked up until 7pm so we still had the room until 6pm. We went for a walk on the beach as we had lots of hours to kill and when we returned for lunch we couldn’t get back in, our key had been deactivated. Another guest let us in and we went to reception who said we were no longer guest there so our key wouldn’t work anymore even though we had the room till 6pm and our transfer wasn’t until 7pm (this was only midday) .||Our rep all week moaned at us for reporting our issues in the TUI app and said we had to report to him but he was only available in the middle of the day and we didn’t want to be hanging around wasting our holiday waiting for him. We just feel the whole week we have just been shouted at and treated rubbish for things that are not our fault. ||The hotel is all inclusive but you can’t get any drinks after 10pm so you had to go out if you want any more drinks. The food was ok and you could find something to eat. The pool is tiny and the pictures are very misleading but the hotel is right on the beach so that’s a positive. There was hardly any entertainment on and what was on was over within an hour, bingo night lasted ten minutes so again you had to leave the hotel to find your own entertainment.||Sunny Beach itself is lovely and a few nice places to visit. If you can do the tour to Sleeping Beauty’s castle then I highly recommend a visit there. We also did Kahn’s tent which was good but the entertainment although excellent only lasted an hour so it is a long evening although the band were playing throughout. We went the second week of September and the beginning of the week was warm 24-25 but got colder and windier as the week went on with some rain, cold at night. There is also only two weeks left of the season by this point so somethings had started shutting down so maybe going a bit earlier in the year is better although more expensive in the school holidays and busier. Overall we love Bulgaria but sadly Grand Hotel we will not be staying...
Read moreAccommodation: The grand hotel is a smallish tower hotel located right in the middle of sunny beach. The back gate leads directly into the promenade and within a few steps you’re on the beach itself. The rooms are average. Our room was plain, had a balcony with a terrible view of wall and had a door which led into the next rooms of other guests. By the sounds of it most rooms had these doors. Locked of course but still we didn’t like it so exchanged for a much nicer room which didn’t have a conjoining door and had a beautiful view of the beach. Staff: Some staff were very friendly and extremely helpful while others were either distant or outride rude. The manager was nice enough to let us exchange our rooms very quickly but was not very polite at all. I found him quite scary actually. The staff even the not so friendly ones were very hardworking and efficient. We weren’t really left waiting for anything. Food: there is a big selection of food. The good tastes average but certainly isn’t bad. The desserts were my favourites because they were especially tasty and really well made. Being a vegetarian though there wasn’t a load of options and I did end up eating the same things sometimes especially for breakfast. Sometimes the soup they said was vegetarian wasn’t because it had seafood in. The snacks Throughout the day we’re also mainly meat so I was limited. Entertainment: entertainment was not amazing. We had a Bulgarian themed night with dancers which was good but most other nights was the same thing (karaoke and a quiz). Entertainment is not the hotel’s strong suit. Facilities: the grand hotel mostly has rooms instead of facilities. No gym. There is a play room for children and a small area for some games and table tennis. I didn’t see anyone use it though. The restaurant is quite big and nicely decorated. There is a small pool outside with a smaller pool for children. Some sun beds but not enough for all the guests. There is a rule about not reserving sun beds but everyone did it anyway and I didn’t see any rules enforced. Because of this I never got to actually try one. The lounge area is okay. It’s always packed on the evenings as there’s not enough seating for everyone. Location: as I mentioned before this hotel really is in a great location. This is a really strong point for the hotel because you’re smack bang in the centre of everything. Surrounded by restaurants and shops and the beach. Overall the hotel was good but I wouldn’t...
