Hotel Astoria — Hotel in Nesebar

I am currently staying here and i can honeslty say that it's the poorest experience ever had, it's the first vacantion that i can't wait do be done with. Wasted money, absolutley no value for the paid money. Unfortunately, all inclusive it's a bad joke here, has nothing to do with it. There are these drinks dispensers that you need to wait in line for to ask drinks during meal times. You can have apple juice, sour cherry juice, fanta, cola, sprite. The sparkling drinks have no bubbles, they look like are made of some pouder mixed with sparkling water, terrible taste. The coffe has the same terrible taste. Everithing feels so low quality, the food looks like jail food, at least. Just for example, among other trash food, we were served mashed potatos during one of the dinners. This was disgusting, was made out of potato flakes, and the consistency was very liquid, puke like. The pasta was almost mashed, looking like it was boiled in the morning and kept in that water untile dinner time. Pizza was in the form of a soggy dough, unklcooked, covered some salami slices and some cheese, nothig to do with the common pizza that we are all used to. Absolutley the lowest quality products used for putting together this crappy food. We chosed this hotel due to it's proximity to the beach, but this was another "surprise". The hotel's umbrellas are at around 150 m from the sea, walking barefoot on the hot sand it's a "pleasure". The hotel's parking lot has a capacity of 20-25 cars and costs 25 bgn/day, so another 200 bgn for our stay. We had to park the cars in a different parking lot, of course, at a considerable distance from the hotel. The rooms are very spacious, the beds are comforable, but there are no mosquito nets for the windows and traces of previous "battles" can be seen all over the walls. Also, the hotel has a pool, quite small for the hotel capacity but this would not have been an issue. The real issue is the water's temperature, it's freezing, really cold. I feel like i was cheated for the paid amont, this hotel should have like 2 stars top, "ultra" services are inexistent, has nothing to do with 4 stars services. If you want to ruin your summer vacantion and throw you moneys out the window, this is the perfect location. We regret booking this hotel, i will never return here, not even if they offered free roms. It's a disrespect towards all...

We returned to this hotel, because we had such a good time the first time but it was much different this time, and not in a good way. We checked in at 13.52hrs, 8 minutes before we officially could. They gave us the room key and asked us to return to get our All Inclusive band after 2pm. Fair enough, if not a little jobsworthy. So we returned at just after 2pm and there was a queue. And so we waited for almost 25 minutes, got to the front and the receptionist asked if we could return in 10 minutes? I said no, so she relented and gave us our AI band which took less than 30 seconds. I KNOW its really petty but I was so bemused as to what the issue was! But it left a slightly sour taste. The food is ok, and you wont go hungry. But again, a marked deterioration in the food from last time. Especially the puddings, they dont put out enough serving spoons so they call get clogged up with cake, and it all becomes one big mess. And the puddings were my fave last time!||I love how they lock the pool door overnight so you simply can't reserve beds with towels in the early hours, so no 3am bed patrol And they open the door at 9am and there's a relaxed feel as you all enter the pool area and take a bed. If you leave it much later than 10am then you have no chance of getting a bed until later in the day. ||Over all the drink quality is pretty poor. The soft drinks are incredibly sugary, and it isn't a nice taste. The beer is watered down as you can drink 150 and still stand up. The staff are pretty grumpy and dont engage much which is a shame. I got told off on day 1 for standing at the wrong end of the round pool bar, which didnt please me much! ||The private beach area is brilliant and the beach bar is a massive plus ( and another reason why we returned here) It's less than a 2 min walk from the hotel and the beach is lovely. ||Two older lifts which dont hold many and are slow, not too bad for us but would possibly be a nightmare in the height of the season.||And the dining area gets rammed quite quickly and lack of seating is evident. ||Hotel is in a great location smack bang in the middle of everything||All in all, its not too bad. Rooms were clean, swimming pool and beach well kept. Food was very tasty. Animation team tried hard. Kids had a good time.

So what was wrong? (This part is for The management's ears mainly) It is important to understand that People make the place. If the hotel hired good people and rewarded them well I bet it would get better reviews. We heard "it's finished" far too much. Starting with toilet paper in the lobby toilet, pool towels, and especially so in the bars - Ice finished, white wine finished, red wine finished, etc - and not even 9 pm yet. One bartender was spiteful- got the orders wrong, and when rebuked he ostentatiously poured the wrong drink to the sink and got you another one angrily, although it was his mistake. Not the way I expect to be treated. The waitresses bored or suffering ;) The elevator that worked poorly - we took the stairs to the 4th floor in fear of getting stuck - good for our butts. I requested a shower curtain the first day, as without it the bathroom was flooded each time either of us showered. Never got it. I guess "it's finished". I still don't understand where the "ultra" in all inclusive comes from. It was impossible to even get water for kids after 11 pm.
