Even though there seems to be good design involved, there are few crucial mistakes that render the space unusable. Don’t even know how this place is rated as 3 Stars Hotel with standard lower than a Hostel. Most of the rooms are presented as Facing the Inner Courtyard, which sound great and leaving you the impression that your room will be nice and quiet looking at some small inner courtyard, however those rooms are simply inner rooms of the building with no exterior walls leaving them with no Sunlight and Fresh Air. The so called cozy inner courtyard is the common area presented in all the photos and the rooms are separated by plain glass walls by those COMMON AREAS, creating the worst primacy expertise ever. It is like having a glass room in the middle of a Plaza and leaving you the only option for having a Direct Sunlight is to have all the people passing by starring at you while you are in bed or else. There is no way to fully shut the glass walls from the COMMON AREAS and that leads to the other fatal flaw for the well-paying guests, that is at night every passing person from the 16 Rooms that the Hotels offer will fire the Lights at the Common Areas and those lights will blast you in the face every 5 minutes or so, waking you up or preventing you falling asleep. Last thing is the noise, so many glass creates so many noises and echoes. During our stay there were needed only 4 people needed, with their small talk, to create unbearable amount of sound, basically this place is privacy nightmare due to those glass walls, the extra thin slabs, that leave you hearing every step someone makes above your head, and the non-insulated water plumping system. Can you imagine what echoes there will be while raining when you can hear people whispering from...
Read moreWe had 4 nights in Veliko Tarnovo and were delighted with the great room we had at the top of Guest House Diabora. The hotel has been beautifully designed and has a unique vibe, full of character and quality touches. ||Reception staff were friendly and helpful and gave great advice on where to find free parking just 5 minutes away. Location was also superb, many attractions being only 10 minutes away.||Our room was spacious which was very welcome but let down by a seemingly unnecessarily small bathroom which tended to smell a bit stale if the door wasn't left open for a while. The drainage for the shower was turgid, meaning the shower tray came perilously close to overflowing after a shower. Also, the shower head was not working. Thankfully, the hand shower was sufficiently powerful for this not to matter too much. ||The only thing that I found disappointing was that the breakfast was not a buffet. Though the cling-filmed plates comprised a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables, the selection was fixed and some elements had clearly come from packets. Fresh pastries were an obvious omission.||Notwithstanding we appreciate the offer of a packed breakfast when we had to leave early and have nothing but fond memories of our...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about the Diabora Guest House in Veliko Tarnovo! I came to town on some personal business and was very fortunate to find Diabora. That business took longer than expected and I ended up staying at Diabora for four weeks! This is a beautifully restored old building right in the charming "old city" which makes it very convenient for sightseeing. My room was very comfortable and I could tell that a lot of attention was paid to every detail.
Most importantly, the entire staff was incredible! They are all so friendly and helpful. I was greeted with enthusiastic smiles every time I came downstairs and I truly felt like one of the family during my extended stay. The breakfast was always fresh and delicious and they were even able to accommodate a small dietary change for me. There is no doubt where I will stay when I return to Veliko Tarnovo. Thank you to everyone at Diabora for a lovely experience and your incredible...
