Hotel Play — Hotel in Veliko Tarnovo

The hotel is very well situated right on the main street, near the city center. We were 8 people so we had 4 of the 7 rooms of the hotel. All of them were really large and bright. ||||We came from Bucharest with 2 cars and parking was a bit of a problem but not too much. Eventually, both drivers were able to find parking spaces in front of the hotel. The fee is 1 Leva/hour but that's only during weekdays 'till 5pm. Evenings and weekends it's totally free but it's also harder to find a spot. ||||It was kind of cold outside at the end of April so the AC in every room was always set on 25C but there is a remote control in each room allowing guests to set their own temp. ||||The room with the balcony (room no 2) was very useful for the smokers in our group - it also has a great view over the main street. ||||Another great thing is that unlike other hotels in Veliko, this one has a lift, which was a blessing for grandma and others in our group. ||||On the downside, the balcony doors were very unreliable, they could be opened from the outside without any problem just by pushing in the middle. There are extra pillows but all of them are very thin so I had a bad sleep.||||The bathrooms are quite large but almost all of the shower cabins have problems like doors falling off and hair in the drains. These are simple things that management should take care of so I simply can't understand why they don't. ||||There is a bar in the same building so the music is kinda loud during the weekend up to 2 am. Room no 7 is the most uncomfortable since there is an awful noise that never stops - it sounds like a washing machine spinning all night long. I had a very bad sleep. It also has no view so I wouldn't recommend it if you have other options.||||All in all, I would stay here again mainly because of the lift and...

I really do not recommend it! After we collected the hotel, the administration took our money from the card. My wife and I went on a trip in full confidence that our room is waiting for us. But unfortunately on the road there was an accident (the tanker turned over), we were late for 15 minutes by the time check-in to the hotel. The site indicates that the check-in was before 23:00 and we were informed. But on the closed doors of the hotel that met us, it was indicated that in case of settling later than 23:00 an additional 5 euros is charged. And the number on which to call is specified, because the reception was closed. I called this number probably 25 times, but no one answered me, but simply ignored it. Although being late in 15 minutes, given that we live in a thousand kilometers and not local it is quite normal. Since we are traveling by car, communication on the road is not always present. But the hotel administration the next morning, hid behind only the fact that they called my number, but it was unavailable! In the morning after we were at night in the middle of the street in a foreign country, we decided to at least take a shower in the room that we paid. But we were politely pointed out that since we did not have time to settle in yesterday, today we are sure. In general if you want to travel to this hotel, be prepared that the administration is not in the position of the guests, if they had a force majeure...

This hotel is located ten metres off the main road and close to restaurants and shops and bars. The visitor centre is just down the road and there is a bar across the street. Which can be noisy but the music gets turned down at about 11pm so it did not worry us as we were out till then most nights.||||The room is large with plenty of room for luggage. Ther is also good air conditioning snd plenty of hot water, clean linen and a small table and chairs. The bed was a little firm and the mattress is thin. The queen size bed was provided with a single top sheet and two very sloppy soft pillows that your head sunk through to the mattress immediately. I asked for another pillow and they managed to find one spare pillow in another room as they have no spares of anything. ||||However, this is a very reasonably priced hotel and the room was very clean and the staff helpful||||There were two coffee cups provided in the room but no kettle or coffee?||||Still... small things that didn't really worry us and if you want a well located large clean no frills room then we...
