Modern spacious rooms and relaxing pool area, but the place lacks character. Lovely, cooling pool but only 8 loungers means you might struggle to lie down at busy times. They also have a problem with flies around the pool. Staff are very attentive and friendly but their poor English coupled with their lack of confidence and general ineptitude means service can be slow and frustrating.
Upon our arrival I was told I would have to move to a different hotel for one night because they had double booked my room. It transpired that this was because a wedding party had asked for an extra night and presumably they thought I wouldn’t mind moving. After lengthy discussions a room was found for me but I had to really fight for it! This took over an hour and I requested a complimentary dinner for the inconvenience, which was reluctantly granted by the manager. I presumed this would be from the menu, but he later told me the chef had prepared some food for me. When I asked to be allowed to choose my own food from the menu, I was given the small choice from the set menu only. After asking for the full menu, the manager reluctantly brought it over and I was allowed to order from it. It seemed as though the manager was striving to cut corners at every opportunity to save money in favour of guest satisfaction, and unfortunately this left a sour taste. Given the hotel is not cheap, I was expecting far better service and I would not recommend staying here during your time...

It is impossible to know first-hand how other hotels in Siem Reap are, but our experience in the Gold Smith Residence was unbeatable. The hotel has new, modern and always clean facilities including spacious and comfortable rooms with air-con and fan. Moreover, the swimming pool is nice and quiet and the breakfast (included in the price), although it is not a buffet, is very complete with a lot of different meal choices. It is true that the hotel is not placed in a big avenue or literally in Pub Street area (making the hotel more peaceful), but a tuk-tuk for $2 or 20 mins walking solve the problem. The cherry on the cake is the kindest and warmest staff in the world and their help in any situation (trips included) and a really competitive price ($14/pers and night) for the top services provided. If we ever get back to Siem Reap, Gold Smith Residence will definitely be our hotel.
Our best regards to Mr. See, Mr. Say SangVa and their colleagues (sorry for not remembering all the names!) for making our stay so...

I arrived a few hours before check in and the staff let me store my bags and lounge by the incredible pool area while I was waiting for my room to be prepared. They let me check in as soon as my room was ready, which was fantastic.
The rooms are GORGEOUS. Well thought out design, chic, clean, and cozy. The bath tub and waterfall shower were both amazing. My room also had a balcony with two chars and a table, which was a lovely spot to relax in the evenings.
The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. Thank you to Rose, Smey, Bunny, Rouen, Pheak, Jake, and Daniel for everything!!! If I return to Siem Reap I will 100% be...
