Ok plAce for one night in Kampot as conveniently located in town by the river , and around corner from the bus stops (Champa , Kep tours and others) connections to Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, kep , Vietnam . Many choices of local and western bars and restaurants as well as street food vendors and scooter rental places . The hotel had decent prices for Kampot pepper better than shops . We could leave our bags there on checkout before our bus back to Phnom Penh . It’s not a particularly well designed pretty place . Very basic decor ! But it does have a nice grand wooden staircase entry , and has nice hot shower . We got the double room with en-suite shower and river /mountain view and thought it would have a private balcony but it was a shared balcony for the floor with window overlooking it , where staff or anyone could smoke , and the floors air conditioning units were all mounted there.

The room are not in the best condition but you pay really cheap and the location is good and bed and hot water are ok, so in my eyes it's worth it. In my room the bathroom lights shut down when you used hot water. I get 2 stars off from 4 due to TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH TRANSPORTATION TO VIETNAM. I paid 27 usd (and found out others paid 22, but that's not the thing). The Vietnamese border didn't function good that day and hold us for about 2 hrs. You expect to get a solution when you pay this much for agency but it did nothing. We had to wait to the evening to get on a bus even though there were other busses leaving to our destination. Left the hotel 10:30 am and arrived to hcmc at 2:15 am the next day. That's about 16 hrs for a specified 9 hrs drive.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The staff was not very friendly. Pillows in the room were dirty and mouldy. We were offered pillows from another room, which were worse. They keep removing the picture I took of the pillows, which just shows how disgusting they were.

I arrived for my third time at the “Good Morning Kampot Guest House”; as i ‘ve been before without any complaints I thought to stay all my short visit of about 3 nights in Kampot over there.||At the counter I found a very young boy wich was not speak English at the level to understand more than “I would like to have a room” or “how much is for a room”... |As I’ve been before and I know the room I didn’t care about and i get the room; i just had a short barged about the price.|The last year was 15$ for a room this year is increase 5$ so i manage to have it for 17$ as i was not into losing too long time i agree for three nights but at the condition to change the room the day after. As i was not booking online the same room was already booked the day after so i agree to moving in another one for the rest 2 nights.|At the counter the boy get my documents and make a registration and he didn’t ask me money so I suppose i can pay at the end.||The room was not very clean, the toilet without windows was even worse dirty, its a humid smelly insane room but i know Cambodia very well so i accept some miss-understand and i did not complain.||The morning after as I wake up i meet in the reception an older guy wich apparently was the owner of the place and he wached me with a suspected face and told to me than he knows I didn’t yet pay the room.|As was a weird sentence i said to him quitely than there is no problem i’ll full up a coffee and i will pay him and i did not do it before because his receptionist didn’t mention to me about a early payment, i left the place and i grab my coffe.|In the way back i stop to the reception to pay the room and ask in wich room i should moving as we agree for 3 nights at the condition to moving up the 2 night in another room.|With any feelings the owner told me than the rooms are full booked with a fake smile and a fake interest like if i’m not a person and i’m just a tourist wich bring money.. exactly with the attitude of a manager wich lost humanity and it’s all about business.|I immediately answer than I booked for 3 nights and he answered me than the boy in the reception the last night was not professional enough.|I insist than I booked for 3 nights and thats not cool, but he answered to me than sadly they had online bookings during the night.||I did not insist again, i just said than that not professional and than not even Cambodian way to act.|Cambodia change fast and the genuine people start to have a loop in the brain about make money and they loose the nice welcome so... “Good Morning Kampot Guest House” is a mix between unprofessionally owner and a western manager wich is very strictly on rules.|Dirty room, dirty place, high prices, unprofessional owner wich act like a responsable manager but without the charm make a almost comic person and weird athmosphere.||I bring my bag from the room i said to them than is better refuse a booking for a mistake administration than loose an old customer wich will leave a bad review.||I turn around the corner in the road behind, i enter in a nice building Guest House, a worm old woman was welcome me, I found a room bigger, more clean, with a balcony for 15$, fortunately the old school Cambodia is still in the air.|But for the old “Good Morning Guest House Kampot”...

I am afraid I can't give stars for the service I received or if I must then it's one star. I was asked by the Khmer staff for $145 upon arrival, that's $45 per night. I suggested a reduction. In the end I paid $40 per night for 3 nights, that's $120. For this money I received a large room with two double beds without bottles of water, without a wardrobe, without a fridge and without a television. The air con at first had no commander to start it. I had to ask for a commander. When the air con did run, it was inadequate - temperature wrong or just very weak. In the small bathroom, the sink was loose and water ran out on to the floor. The water heater with wires out of the wall had no immediate hot water and I didn't get any during my stay. The first day I had to ask for water and was given 2 small bottles. The second day I asked and was given 1 small bottle, and the third day 1 small bottle. (I presume because I was 1 person.) The room was not serviced throughout my 3-day stay and I was given no clean towels. I have stayed in Cambodian lodgings a lot and have comparisons but will not make them here. It's enough to say there are far better places with much better prices. I was not offered breakfast (and so presumed it was not included). From what I can see on the Good Morning Kampot site, there can be breakfast, or there should be breakfast. The view from my room over the river was obscured by plants, electric cabels and a sloping roof. Difficult to see the river. When, at first, I questioned the price, I was asked to pay for 3 nights at the lower price immediately to secure the $40 dollar per night "deal" but was told I could not talk to the Australian boss because he was not around. Back in his own country. I could not talk to anyone except the Khmer guy at reception who seemed polite but as I say not particularly forthcoming. I believe I should be due a reply to this complaint. I will not return to Good Morning Kampot. I also feel a...

The pictures on booking.com look okay but in reality it doesn't meet expectations. For the price of $18 a night, you would expect something but it turns out so so bad. Let me explain.

The room amenities are what you'd only expect from a $5-10 guesthouse. There's literally nothing, only tiny soap and toilet paper are provided. There's no TV, which is something you'd expect from this price point (I stayed in Maison Rivera for the same price, and they have everything).

The curtains are just fabric. It's so thin that the morning light comes through so easily. You cannot sleep after that. I don't understand the point of that curtain as it serves no purpose.

The blanket is just a thin piece of fabric. Again, it serves no purpose because it won't keep you warm. It's thinner than the towel. I think it's as thin as the curtain fabric.

The toilet mat is so dirty. Again, it serves no purpose because when you wipe your clean feet after the shower, your feet will be dirty.

The guesthouse overall is dirty. I saw a sign saying "taking your shoes off" and I expect the floor is clean yet my feet is dirtied because of their dirty floor.

I was woken up in the middle of the night (I think almost midnight) with a constantly loud knocks by a man asking me to give him my car key so that he can park it in front of the guesthouse for me. I'm not even sure if the man is a thief or a staff. I didn't open or give my key to him, of course. I feel so insecure and awful about this encounter. Who the heck knocks on the door of a guest in the middle of the night? I was asleep. It's so rude. If he's not staff, then how the hell does he know my room number? The hotel seems so insecure.

Bottom line: save yourself and stay elsewhere. I WILL NOT COME...
