Read moreI am afraid I can't give stars for the service I received or if I must then it's one star. I was asked by the Khmer staff for $145 upon arrival, that's $45 per night. I suggested a reduction. In the end I paid $40 per night for 3 nights, that's $120. For this money I received a large room with two double beds without bottles of water, without a wardrobe, without a fridge and without a television. The air con at first had no commander to start it. I had to ask for a commander. When the air con did run, it was inadequate - temperature wrong or just very weak. In the small bathroom, the sink was loose and water ran out on to the floor. The water heater with wires out of the wall had no immediate hot water and I didn't get any during my stay. The first day I had to ask for water and was given 2 small bottles. The second day I asked and was given 1 small bottle, and the third day 1 small bottle. (I presume because I was 1 person.) The room was not serviced throughout my 3-day stay and I was given no clean towels. I have stayed in Cambodian lodgings a lot and have comparisons but will not make them here. It's enough to say there are far better places with much better prices. I was not offered breakfast (and so presumed it was not included). From what I can see on the Good Morning Kampot site, there can be breakfast, or there should be breakfast. The view from my room over the river was obscured by plants, electric cabels and a sloping roof. Difficult to see the river. When, at first, I questioned the price, I was asked to pay for 3 nights at the lower price immediately to secure the $40 dollar per night "deal" but was told I could not talk to the Australian boss because he was not around. Back in his own country. I could not talk to anyone except the Khmer guy at reception who seemed polite but as I say not particularly forthcoming. I believe I should be due a reply to this complaint. I will not return to Good Morning Kampot. I also feel a...
Read moreThe pictures on booking.com look okay but in reality it doesn't meet expectations. For the price of $18 a night, you would expect something but it turns out so so bad. Let me explain.
The room amenities are what you'd only expect from a $5-10 guesthouse. There's literally nothing, only tiny soap and toilet paper are provided. There's no TV, which is something you'd expect from this price point (I stayed in Maison Rivera for the same price, and they have everything).
The curtains are just fabric. It's so thin that the morning light comes through so easily. You cannot sleep after that. I don't understand the point of that curtain as it serves no purpose.
The blanket is just a thin piece of fabric. Again, it serves no purpose because it won't keep you warm. It's thinner than the towel. I think it's as thin as the curtain fabric.
The toilet mat is so dirty. Again, it serves no purpose because when you wipe your clean feet after the shower, your feet will be dirty.
The guesthouse overall is dirty. I saw a sign saying "taking your shoes off" and I expect the floor is clean yet my feet is dirtied because of their dirty floor.
I was woken up in the middle of the night (I think almost midnight) with a constantly loud knocks by a man asking me to give him my car key so that he can park it in front of the guesthouse for me. I'm not even sure if the man is a thief or a staff. I didn't open or give my key to him, of course. I feel so insecure and awful about this encounter. Who the heck knocks on the door of a guest in the middle of the night? I was asleep. It's so rude. If he's not staff, then how the hell does he know my room number? The hotel seems so insecure.
Bottom line: save yourself and stay elsewhere. I WILL NOT COME...
