The guesthouse, NY KA SMY is a rebuilt guesthouse on the lot of the previous named Villa Ny Ka Smy. It has four stories and I find to be very, very clean and they have an excellent staff to care for their customers. They are located near most of the major places to visit. You many walk to the Russian Market, the Central Market and many restaurants and shopping places. A short tuk-tuk ride from this guesthouse will take you to the THE ROYAL PALACE AND SLIVE PAGODA, THE NATIONAL MUSEUM, THE TUOL SENG PRISON GENOCIDE MUSEUM and the KILLING FIELDS. There other other interests that one may also explore in the area||The rooms are kept very clean and the furniture is in very good condition and situated nicely in the room. You have desk with mirror, a comfortable queen size bed, an end table, refrigerator, aircon and a flat screem t/v., and a telephone on the end table. The bathroom has a hot and cold water shower, toilet and mirror. The clothes storage is limited so this could hinder a long term stay. There are hangers on the wall and a nice wooden space to fold your clothes but not a large area. As a single occupant it does not effect me. There is no restaurant on the premises but plenty close by. ||The guesthouse is situated in a quiet area and offers a decent nights sleep. This owners of the guesthouse, as well as, the staff are excellent people who care about your stay. They will help you with any questions you may have about the hotel, the area and other things that one may need to know.||I have been here almost a month and have...
Read moreThe room was a decent size with enough space to dump our backpacks out of the way! TV was good quality with some Fox channels. Bed was quite firm so could be a little uncomfortable but not nearly enough to prevent sleeping. Air con was average, as was the wifi which was quite slow and intermittent. |The issues we had didn’t bother us enough to complain about and are such that the staff must be aware of them already: The windows didn’t seal properly which may have affected the air con quality. There was a small window in the corner with no drapes/curtain so light came through brightly quite early. The toilet seat wasn’t fixed properly so would move as you used it.|Apart from that, staff were friendly enough (the reception area was often randomly scattered with people, we weren’t sure who were staff or whether it was family-run) and it was a pleasant short stay with daily house-keeping. |Tuktuks are readily available outside. There are plenty of restaurants if you wander up the street a bit (Check out 350 BBQ cafe on 350 street - also reviewed) and you can even walk to the Genocide museum (S21) which I recommend along with Choeung Ek (approx 14km from this hotel?) for a historical background to Cambodia’s haunted past. S21 (Genocide museum) is approximately 10 minute walk away...
Read moreThis is a very clean, well equipped hotel / guest house, about 5 minutes walk from the Russian Market. The rooms have some nice simple design touches and some quality furniture. The owner, staff and house keeping are all very helpful. There is no breakfast facility at this place, but there is a kettle in your room. The bathrooms are probably not the best design, but they are kept very clean. ||If you are planning a longer stay, the owner is building some apartments adjacent to the hotel. These are likely to be no more expensive than the $18 you pay, per night, for the hotel (as long your let is for at least one month).||My special mention goes to the owners children, who brightened up everyday I was there - Sovanny, Sethika and Leaksmy. ||Sovanny was a particular help to me, because she is a fluent English speaker (as well as Khemer and some Chinese dialects). If she's home after school, she's great to have a chat with. Her mum and owner, Khana, also understands English pretty well. ||Highly recommended place to stay, in an Phnom Penh, in an area with plenty of good restaurants and...
