I ordered fried potatoes and beetroot feta salad, delivered to my door. Surely not the most interesting on the menu, but I wanted something vegetarian today. The beetroot salad was beetroot salad. (The home-made feta seemed a bit unsalty, bland and tofu-like for my taste.) The fried potatoes were fried potatoes. And a few big slices of white bread with it, which was just that: plain white bread (fresh and without any strange additives). Nothing so special seeming about it. But it is special here, where these foods are not common. So I was quite satisfied. It is not cheap, the portions not huge (but the two items I ordered were enough to fill me; maybe eating in the restaurant portions are bigger? I read so many reviews about huge portions). But if you crave (Eastern) European common food in decent quality, this is where you can get it. Next time I'll make sure to order some meat and some sour cream.
I ordered online, via third-party delivery service MealTemple, but was not sure that my order was actually being processed, it gave off a vibe of being outdated and out of use, and reading bad reviews about them online while being hungry. So I called Irina's resturant directly, speaking to the owner, I think, who was very friendly, quick and helpful. They had my order in their system there. It arrived within less than one hour. They included a nice little message on paper with a phone number to order via Telegram or WhatsApp next time. Not sure why they don't make that public. Maybe because it could be easier abused and spammed with faux orders? Not...
Read moreMy first experience in a Russian restaurant. It’s rare in south east Asia thus I added Irina to my list for months but didn’t try it until last week. The restaurant is small with only a few tables. Good choices of food, alcohol(there is recommendation on menu when you order dishes). We ordered : Beetroot walnut salad, strong garlic and onion taste. Portion is smaller than what I expected. Solyanka, very tasty Russian vegetable soup(with some meat). Salmon Pelmeni, Salmon dumplings, served with sour cream and a kind of vinegar. Chicken liver Vareniki, very rich liver dumplings, liver lovers don’t miss it. Served with sour cream. Lamb kebab, delicious tender lamb barbecue with strong cumin flavor. Beef stroganoff, beef slices cooked in a buttery sauce and potato mash. I would recommended all the dishes I ordered to my friend. They...
Read moreGreat place to visit, but not to eat. Interior is fantastic slavic spirit you can feel it, touch it and it's a real pleasure for eyes. All besides that is just horrible, regular cambodian service (yes waiters are locals), when they can't see you and waiting for 10 minutes and few reminders to get an ashtray. Food looks good on a menu's pictures but that's all. Feels like the owner are good people and want to do a good thing, but all they did is just teaching few guys how make russian food and lost their interest to this place. Seriously I never knew that you can screw up salty salmon that bad: no taste and old paper texture. I've been there few times and everytime they surprised my with horrible cooking. But I have to give them the credit for pelmeni and vodka, that was consistently...
