We loved camping at Redstreak! The campground is mostly quiet, with lots of tree cover. We did like the trails, too (there are so many available right from the campground!), but bring bug spray, and the mosquitos were AWFUL. (We wished we brought our thermacell for our site!). The bathrooms are older, but in our loop there were 4 women’s showers and three toilets, and I never had to compete for the showers (so different from Banff!). I do wish that they did a better job of cleaning the bathrooms - it looks like they go in daily, but they did a half assed job every time, leaving mud smears on doors, etc. (I actually went and asked them to clean a toilet after two days of seeing someone else’s blood on it, and they did it really quickly, which was great, but I just wish they actually took the time to clean the bathroom better in the first place). I did see 3 people walk in to clean both bathrooms in the morning on our last day, but they were only in the bathrooms for 15 minutes before leaving, and there was still mud smeared on a door, etc after they left :( We did go to the Parks Canada performances at night (Taylor Swift Airs Tour and Bergemon) and they were both SO WELL DONE!! We absolutely adored the performances, and were so sad we didn’t get to see any on our last couple nights there. 100% recommend the performances at 7:30pm in the theatre! One other point is that there aren’t any sinks for dishwashing, and so other campers were washing dishes in the bathroom or plugging the water drain by doing dishes right at the water station without scraping their food off. Not a campground issue, but if you are going to this campground, bring your own dishwashing stuff (bucket, stove to heat water, soap, etc) and be prepared to do it at your campsite. Overall a great time, I honestly just wish that the staff cleaned the...
Read moreNot having planned ahead, we booked this camp spot on our national Park Trip as it was the last one available. Check in was easy, Staff very friendly. Quite a steep drive upwards, watch out for wildlife! We stayed with a tent. On the Pro side: No direct Sun as our place (D1) was shaded by trees almost all day. Amazing sunset and starry sky from just outside the campground. Neutral: Bathrooms were in okay condition, a bit on the old side but for what it is in good condition and clean. Showers were comfortable. Streetlamps throughout the campsite? Odd decision, but luckily ours was off for the night, otherwise we would not have been able to sleep. Others were on, and all throughout the night. I would just turn them off completely if it were up to me. Other campspots in waterfowl iE still are easy to maneuver with no light. Negative: Other campers and their manners. There was a strict no campfire rule, with 3 wildfires smoldering across the valley, yet several groups had big propane fires going. The overall campground was already very dry. One person left Sunday morning around 6am before 7am (quiet time), with his pickup gurgling away super loud (sounded juiced up AF) for a solid 40min, while loudly packing his trailer, while another person seemingly made a sport out of slamming doors. We left some other campgrounds as well around 4-5am, but were on our tows and packed up whisper quiet in 5mins and were gone. Quiet the weed smell early Sunday morning while children playing around all over. Generators running for hours on end, quiete a few dogs that were not well trained and barked super loud the whole day and some even at night. So yeah, if you have family or a sound isolated RV, good spot with amazing view and very child friendly. As a tent camper I would...
Read moreMy recent stay at Redstreak Campground, specifically at site C32, offered a blend of pros and cons, making for an interesting camping experience.
Location: One of the standout features of Redstreak Campground is its fantastic location. Situated conveniently close to Radium and hot springs, it's an ideal choice for campers seeking both outdoor adventure and easy access to amenities.
Campsite: C32, our chosen campsite, had its highlights and drawbacks. The washroom and showers were impressively well-maintained, ensuring a pleasant stay. However, the sites were a bit cramped, compromising privacy and the overall camping experience. On the plus side, the $9 firewood permit with unlimited firewood was a valuable inclusion, allowing us to enjoy campfires without any worries. The campground is well-maintained and offers convenient features like picnic areas and garbage disposal facilities.
Conclusion: Redstreak Campground is a solid choice for those looking for a convenient home base near Radium and the hot springs. Although the campsite spacing could be improved to enhance privacy, the clean facilities, unlimited firewood, and proximity to attractions make it a worthwhile destination for campers seeking a well-rounded experience. With a few adjustments, it has the potential to be an even more remarkable...
