Shawarma Palace- Montgomery — Restaurant in Calgary

This place started out pretty good. Not the best, but a decent shawarma if you weren't willing to head downtown. However, it has quickly gone downhill. Worst of all is the lack of hygiene. I'm really surprised that people haven't been made sick from eating here after seeing what I've seen.

Last time I went there was a line up that totaled 5 people. Everyone was ordering just a single shawarma and three staff were working.

The guy working the grill came over in a panic and asked what we wanted, but didn't listen to what anyone was saying. I ordered and asked for "everything except nothing hot". I have ordered with this instruction at many shawarma places, including this one, from this same guy. If he didn't understand or hear me he should have asked for clarification.

The guy then preceded to put hot peppers on my shawarma... when I pointed out that I didn't want them he refused to take them off telling me I should have told him that. After I insisted twice more, he took them off with a huge production, throwing them from where he was making it a few feet into the garbage can.

The two other staff looked embarrassed by how he was acting, this gave me the impression that he was the manager.

Then when the shawarma was finished he picked it up to put it into the grilling press, and about 1/3 to 1/2 of the meat fell out. I asked if he could put it back in, and he refused.

I really should have just walked out, but I was on my way home from work and hungry.

As I waited to pay, I stood and watched as he worked the grill. He was sweating profusely and he continuously wiped his brow and nose with his bare hands, never washing them as he continued to cook. I then watched as he scraped and flipped while sweat dripped from his face onto the grill and the meat he was frying up. Other customers noticed as well. Absolutely disgusting.

Without a doubt one of the most disgusting things I have seen in a shawarma...

Came here yesterday for the first time to pick up food for my family. When I came in, all three of the staff were very friendly. They even gave me a free baklava for it being my first time. There was a misunderstanding with the order and they had given me the wrong sauce that covered all the meat on the platter. I didn't notice until I went home to give it to my family member when they told me it was the wrong sauce. I decided to make my way back to the store to ask if they could replace it. When I came in, I kindly explained what happened and asked if he was able to change (just the meat because it was the only part with the sauce). The guy working immediately showed frustration and said he would have to ask his co-worker if it was true because they don't "just remake free plates for people". I was extremely disappointed with his response as he knew it was my first time there, and the plate wasn't even for myself. After he talked to the coworker that had served me, he came out and told me that I must have asked for that sauce. I was given specific instructions from my family what to get. I wouldn't have told him a name of a sauce that I don't know. Irregardless who made the mistake, there is no reason to treat your customers that way. Luckily he decided to remake me a plate, but was clearly throwing things on in frustration, and being extremely condescending every time he asked me what I wanted on it. I decided to tell him he doesn't have to act so rudely, it was just a mistake that had been made, and he raised his voice "I'm not being rude, I have to ask my coworker what happened, you can't just get free plates". When I returned home, my family was satisfied with the taste of the food but shocked to hear how I was treated by the employee. I felt extremely uncomfortable the entire time and after this experience I won't be...

Have ordered here before, usually pretty good food. However yesterday we ordered from Doordash for delivery, most of our order was forgotten. No contact from Doordash or the manager...and the driver from Doordash said he was not contacted until he was close to delivery and I had to contact the restaurant, again more excuses about them saying they were contacting us but had to wait until doordash dropped off..I waited around 5 to 10mins before being able to get through to someone. The manager made some excuses and said it was the drivers fault for being in a rush but when my husband went down to collect the rest of order, he advised that the restaurant have to actually hand the food over due to the location of the counter/food placement. They hadn't bothered to keep the rest of our order warm so the food was cold on collection -despite the manager being told my husband was on his way down, by the time my husband got back, the rest of our food was cold, and disgusting. Manager was full of excuses and blaming doordash, no apology or acceptance on their part for poor customer service, stated "we will give you extras", no "extras" given...our party spend around $80 and usually while the food is good, due to the restaurants poor attitude and laziness I wouldn't go there again and wouldn't recommend them. They don't care about their customers or rectifying and acknowledging their mistakes and they don't care if you eat their cold disgusting food as long as...
