We had a highly disappointing and uncomfortable stay at the Best Western Plus Fergus Hotel due to serious issues with the room facilities and poor customer service. Definitely not worth spending CAD 325+ plus taxes per night in Fergus.|While the location of the hotel is excellent—conveniently close to Elora and other local attractions in Fergus—the overall experience was far from satisfactory. Upon checking into our room, we discovered that the bathroom latch was broken, which compromised our privacy. We immediately reported this issue to the front desk. However, we were told that no maintenance staff were available in the evening and that it would be addressed the following day.|Unfortunately, no one followed up the next day until we raised the issue again. A housekeeping staff member eventually came to inspect the latch but failed to resolve the issue. We were informed that no alternative rooms were available due to full occupancy, so we had no choice but to continue our stay in the same room.|The lack of privacy forced us to use the public washrooms in the hotel lobby and even request access to the bathroom in the second room we had booked, which caused inconvenience and embarrassment for all of us. Despite our discomfort and multiple complaints, no compensation was offered.|To add to the frustration, during check-out, the hotel staff insisted on inspecting our room for damages—a step that makes one wonder why such inspections weren’t conducted after the previous guest’s departure. It raises concerns about whether the hotel was already aware of the broken latch and chose not to disclose it to us prior to check-in.|Another concerning aspect of our experience was the payment process. Although the reservation had already been charged to the credit card on file via Booking.com, we were required to pay the full amount again at check-in, with the explanation that the original charge would be refunded. This practice is both confusing and inconvenient, especially when guests are not allowed to check in until full payment is made again plus CAD 200 Deposit with no Room Service ( You need to go down to Front Desk to get any thing like extra sheet/towel )|We strongly advise future guests to thoroughly inspect their rooms before making any payments. If you value comfort, transparency, and peace of mind during your stay, we recommend considering alternative...
Read moreZERO STARS!!! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! We called on Monday August 9th, 2021 to see what the rates were for Friday August 13th, 2021. The staff informed us that there was only one room left and if we wanted it we HAD to book now. (which we never do). But we did as we needed the room for the Friday. An emergency came up Covid Related and we called to cancel 24hrs prior, due to our emergency and the Staff was SOOO rude & REFUSED to cancel our reservation because we didn't call 48hrs prior. WE could not predict this EMERGENCY. We called higher up Best Western Management and they only re-directed us to the TERRIBLE Fergus Best Western. The supervisor told us to call back on Monday to speak to the GM and she was VERY rude. Our Credit card was charged and when I spoke to the GM she told me we should have not taken their last room if we didn't need it. I explained to her that we DID need the room on the Monday for the Friday and we could not have predicted this EMERGENCY. She then told me I should have called 48 hrs prior with my emergency. I explained that an emergencies CANNOT BE Predicted. She raised her voice with me & was more rude than her terrible supervisor!! If you are a psychic and can foresee the future then by all means book with this TERRIBLE FRANCHISE, otherwise I would suggest booking at a normal establishment that has empathy as well as 24hrs cancellation policy like 99.9% of hotels not 48hrs. We stay in hotels at least 4 times a month for work and we also have always put our workers at the Best Western but we WILL NEVER, EVER give them our...
Read moreI felt the need to write a review after our recent two night stay at the Best Western Plus in Fergus, ON. Unfortunately our experience was not up to our standards. Upon checking in we were greeted by a very unfriendly staff member who barely gave us eye-contact - which I feel set the tone for our stay. Our room was clean but the mattresses on both of our beds have seen better days and were sinking drastically when we slept. In fact as soon as we sat on the bed the mattresses sank. The bathroom was a whole other experience. The toilet seat was not secured to the toilet properly causing it to slide around when you sat down, and the shower had little water pressure. Most of the water flowed out of the facet and into the tub instead of coming through the shower head. It was difficult to adjust the temperature in our hotel room as no matter what we did it was either too hot or too cold making the room uncomfortable. The staff came into our room to change towels and make beds but left dirty towels in the bathroom along with clean ones and only made one of our beds, which I found odd. On an up-note, the breakfast that was included in the price of the hotel room had a nice variety of items to choose from and the staff overseeing the breakfast area was welcoming. Overall from this experience I would not recommend this hotel at this time and I would look for other accommodations if I had to stay in and around...
