Edit: “Management” asked me to reach out to further discuss. When I did, no one responded, again! Way to drop the ball twice Joey’s!
Our experience was extremely disappointing. We had at 9:45 pm reservation and I had showed up before the rest of my party. Upon being seated shortly after 9:45 pm, I sat by myself awaiting the arrival of my party as they were running late. As I was waiting, other people were getting seated around me. I continued to wait for a server to come by and drop off waters/ask if I wanted a drink while waiting. Not one server acknowledged me. There was a group of them standing a few feet away from me, chatting. Other tables that were seated after me, were getting service. Also, let me preface, we were sitting in the patio area just off of the lounge. There were approx. 5 other seated tables in the patio area and the lounge was not even as close to being as busy as I have seen it in the past. After waiting over 10 minutes, I got up and walked to the desk area where they had the cutlery/napkins/water. I had to pour my own water as there was a server standing right in front of me. The water jug was empty, so I saw some pre-poured waters that I had to deliver to my own table. My party arrived and was seated at 10:05 pm and the server finally acknowledged the table at 10:06 pm. Also, we had asked for a glass of ice which was provided. Shortly after, the buss lady who was clearing the tables came and tried to take the glass away. We told her we had just received it and to not take it. She came back 2 other times after that, trying to clear away the glass. I understand she was trying to do her job, but to come to someone’s table 3 times to take away one glass… is was extremely annoying to have to stop our conversation to constantly let her know to leave the glass of ice for us. At the end of the evening, we informed our server about the poor service. He offered an apology but that was it. To summarize, I sat alone in a half empty restaurant and was not acknowledged for almost 20 minutes AND had to serve myself. This was actually an insulting experience as...
Read moreThis is a beautiful restaurant in a very good location and my husband and I were quite excited to spend date here. My husband made reservations online for our date and an employee called the day before to confirm that we were still coming - nice touch. We were dressed in casual attire when we arrived to JOEY as we were attending a hockey game after our meal; when we arrived, the hostess asked if we had a reservation, which my husband told her we did and gave her the name for the reservation. The hostess didn't confirm our reservation on her tablet and we were told to wait to be seated over to the side of the lobby...which we found a bit strange. We waited and watched several people walk in and get seated; first a couple of people which the same hostess asked if they'd like to sit at the bar, which we weren't asked and they were taken straight over, and another small family that were taken to a table to be seated in the time we were waiting. We then went back up to the same hostess who we checked in with, who asked us how we were again, so I assume she forgot who we were or why we were there, and asked if we could just sit at the bar, and she decided to seat us. As we were being escorted to the bar, we walked past three empty tall table's and asked if we could sit there to which she replied; "no they're for a reservation"...which we were. She ended up taking two chairs from one of the tables and seating us at the bar. In the entire time we were at JOEY (which was well over an hour), no one sat at that table we asked to sit at. It took a significant amount of time to get our first drinks, and our food which our bartender apologized for due to how busy it was, which we totally understood. The food and drinks were wonderful, and we look forward to trying more items from the menu, we just hope that our host/hostess greeting at our next visit is more attentive and conscientious about their guests as we did not feel very valued during our last welcome into JOEY. If our next visit is better, I will...
Read moreUsed to be a regular at Joey's when they first opened up. Left Edmonton and recently was back and decided to take a few friends out to Joey's since it used to be my favorite restaurant. A party of 8 and none of us will ever go back to this location.
2 people got Salmon and both said it tasted old and reheated. 4 of us got a steak and shrimp dish, each one of our steaks were cold and not cooked properly. The sushi tasted like it was extremely low quality as well. The last 2 got steaks which were also cold and not cooked to their liking.
I got the steak and sushi and was EXTREMELY disappointed with it. I've gotten it in other Joey's locations before outside of Edmonton and love it, so I'm sure it's only this location.
Appetizers and crispy mash potato rolls were also not upto par either.
I'm fairly sure the owner has opted in for cheaper options but still charging the same amount.
Service wasn't anything special either. Got drinks messed up and took 10 mins to come back to ask if everything is okay. When we mentioned the drinks were wrong, we waited another 10 mins to get the new ones.
Needless to say, if I'm paying over $1000 for a meal, I at least expect it to be good.
Horrible food, terrible service, and they weren't to busy either. After mentioning how the food was, their reply was "well everyone else seems to like it, so it's how the dish is" then when I mention I still goto Joey's weekly in Vancouver and Calgary, they said "that's how our food here is". For anyone wondering, Sherwood park Joey's is still pretty good. It was honestly one of the first times I've never left a tip. Never going back to this location and I suggest everyone else do the same. Cactus club, cafe amore, japanois bistro, and a few other very good places are just down the road. Don't waste your money to pay for parking and eat horrible food here.
Ps. Management is...
