Bar Down — Restaurant in Kincardine

Be prepared to wait for a while. We came one night, young server told us it’s hell in the kitchen and we can be seated only in 20 minutes or so and then it will take some time to get the meal. I was starving so we went somewhere else. Next day they told us the same thing but we were willing to wait to be seated. Finally sat down, got our drinks and decided on what to order, but our server was nowhere to be found. Eventually had to grab one of the other waitresses on a patio, told her what we wanted. We waited for over an hour, our server didn’t check on us during this time by the way. We are not locals so we just thought that that’s how it is in smaller towns - nobody is in the rush. But it got pretty obvious that they forgot about us. We went inside to find our server and it turns out, they didn’t put our order in the system, so we just waited for nothing. Oooh, we were pissed. The girl apologized to us; saying that the other girl is not even supposed to take orders, she is just a floor helper. Anyway, we got our food after that conversation but I would NEVER go back to that place. It wasn’t even that busy when we came, it was totally doable for the stuff to make sure we were taken care of. Nice little patio, but we didn't realize we'd be sitting there an hour before our food arrived. When we first came in, there was no one in sight, so we grabbed our own menus and a single waitress serving the entire outdoor patio showed up 15mins later.

We ordered and at the 45min waiting mark we were told they put our order in wrong so we had to wait an additional 20mins, bringing us over the hour mark. We thought at least the wait would be worth it. Nope. Dry flavourless burger and a dishonest "crab" dish. I wasn't expecting great quality for the crab melt, something out of a can would have been fine, but the item should have been marketed as an imitation crab melt - imitation crab is this bright red and white pulverized fish paste with added starches and flavours. It's really unpleasant, tastes nothing like crab, and is not something I would have ordered had they been truthful.

I brought it up (after waiting another 15mins for our server who was nowhere to be found) and was refunded for the imitation crab but still had to pay for the side items that came included in the dish when you order. Which was ok, the fries were good, but not really the classiest thing to do after trying to swindle diners with imitation food.

Atmosphere was very cozy, came on a Friday and had live music available. There are pool tables and a bar, and a seperate dining area. Drinks were amazing, especially the blue raspberry lemonade!! 😍😍 The food was good but not amazing.. the prime rib sandwich had way too much horseradish sauce and not enough meat (that wasn't pink anymore at all btw) unfortunately, but the regular prime rib dinner with asparagus and a baked potato was pretty good! Candied brussel sprouts had a lot of burnt bacon bits but tasted good overall. I would say the atmosphere is amazing, service was excellent, but the food is a bit overpriced in my opinion.. 😅 On another note, I do wanna mention a "program" they offer where you can pay $15 for a purple heart to pin onto the wall, for someone in need to take and receive a meal in return.
