This is a nice place in a great location. The bed was comfy enough, the bathroom clean and the host recommended a fantastic place for dinner (the Grist - go there!!). As other reviewers noted, the fan ran all night, which gave welcome heat but was noisy. Also, our 'private' bathroom was in the shared space - I rushed my morning shower etc to avoid colliding with our host as he set up the breakfast table, which is a shame because the shower is new and lovely. A curtain or room divider would provide privacy in that hallway area. ||Overall, the physical space is quite nice, but it was missing out on some simple things that could make it a 5-star location: |1. Pillows. There was one per guest, without consideration of allergies, preferences or comfort. They were lumpy and uncomfortable, and we had no choice but to use them anyway. |2.Linens. Tired sheets and one thin, faded quilt, with a thin, small throw which did nothing to beat the cold. Towels are monogrammed but are showing their age, with threads hanging off. |3. Breakfast: make-your-own 'pod' coffee, overcooked bacon (served on a greasy paper towel), waffles with fake maple syrup and a few berries. || Again, it was totally fine... and I know 'you get what you pay for', but it...
Read moreThere were excellent things about ALL those places we stayed but the location of Carriage House appealed to me as did the sense of having an entire vacation home to ourselves. One other couple were not around much as they were in town for a Celebration of Life. Only met them at breakfast to even really know they were there (good acoustics). There were all sorts of little add-ons like the nice coffee available throughout the stay, even popcorn and a microwave! Our suite had awesome views, felt spacious and was very very pretty. Owner had used nice high-end fittings throughout. Breakfast was delicious and inconspicuously served so we almost had to work at engaging the owner the short time he was there. If i had any misgiving it was that the owner wasn't particularly warm, rather awkward almost. We were so pleased at being able to get a room by just stopping by and inquiring about availability but when we asked about a second night apparently, he/they were booked. WOULD stay here again as price-point made this even more of...
Read moreWe spent one night at Carriage House on Kent and we had an amazing stay. My husband and I usually get a hotel around Niagara Falls but would spend all day at Niagara-on-the-Lake so we’ve decided to book a cute Bed & Breakfast for once and they did not disappoint! They’re also dog friendly which is a big plus since we wanted to take our dog with us on our two day adventure. Rob was very kind and hospitable! The house was very clean, bright and spacious! We stayed at their loft and we didn’t want to go anywhere else after seeing it. Breakfast is included and had the cowboy bacon! It’s right off the Niagara Parkway and they’re close to the butterfly conservatory, botanical garden, beautiful trails, and the ride to get to Niagara-on-The-Lake Main Street is very scenic. There are farmers markets along the way, you can stop by and grab local produce. I definitely recommend Carriage House on Kent if you want a full small town experience on Niagara on the Lake. We will...
