Stayed here over the Victoria Day long weekend as part of a 1000 Islands trip, including a cruise to see Boldt Castle (which was definitely the highlight). The hotel itself was clean and located in a quiet area — no noise issues, which we appreciated.
We booked a jacuzzi/fireplace suite, expecting a cozy, upgraded experience. While the jacuzzi worked fine, the fireplace was just for show — no heat at all, which was disappointing. No real ambiance or warmth from it, especially when that’s part of why you choose that suite.
Check-in and check-out were strictly by the book — no early check-in or late check-out allowed, which felt rigid compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at where there’s usually a bit more flexibility, especially when rooms are ready.
Breakfast was minimal — just pancakes and muffins. Definitely not the typical hotel breakfast spread you’d expect (e.g. eggs, toast, fruit, yogurt, maybe some protein options). It felt more like a quick snack than a meal.
The staff was somewhat friendly, not rude by any means, but not particularly welcoming or engaging either. Nothing that made the stay feel personal or memorable.
Overall, it was a clean and quiet place to sleep, but not a wow experience by any stretch. If you’re just looking for a basic place to rest with few frills, it does the job — but if you value flexibility, a full breakfast, or extra comforts, you might want to...
Read moreRooms are nice. I had a queen room of two queen beds that comes with a microwave small bar fridge. The lady who checked me and was very nice, not a fake nice but truly was a nice person. The shower is really nice. It’s one of those new Modern inserts-nicely updated.
The only thing I didn’t like was that wake up text at 8AM with the phone text going off from the automated system saying you can check out anytime you like, but ended up waking me up when I was sleeping!
I would recommend that they move this to 9 AM because when you’re staying in a hotel and your trying to asleep, not the nicest thing to have a loud text going off and waking you up when you’re on vacation at 8am.
I would also just note that if you have any issues with stairs- if you’re on the second floor, there are quite a few stairs aprox 20. I would recommend requesting the ground floor.
Definitely would recommend this hotel. It was very nice. It’s two levels. Staff is very friendly! close to everything is nearby restaurants, boat tours at marina 5 min drive away! Price was a lot better than the Holiday Inn! Starbucks is right...
Read moreI booked a room at Travelodge by Wyndham Gananoque expecting what was advertised, but the reality was completely different and extremely disappointing. The room was tiny, cramped, and humid, completely unsuitable for 4 people. It felt uncomfortable and poorly maintained from the moment we arrived.
Despite my repeated requests, the staff refused to provide any compensation or assistance, instead placing the blame on Expedia. Their lack of accountability and unwillingness to resolve the situation turned what was supposed to be a relaxing 2-day trip into a stressful, frustrating, and ruined experience.
I also had to spend an excessive amount of time chasing customer support just to get answers, which added to the mental stress and wasted time.
This hotel’s listing is misleading, the rooms are inadequate, and the customer service is unacceptable. I would strongly advise against booking here. Save yourself the frustration, stress, and disappointment — choose a hotel that values its guests and delivers on what...
