I was extremely disappointed with the Lakeside Resort in Penticton. Most disappointing hotel stay we’ve ever experienced. All the “cons” could have been remedied had the front desk staff had any level of customer service skills, but they didn’t. We stayed positive and enjoyed ourselves but will never be staying here again nor reco

Pros: location is great! Right on the water Check in was quick

Cons: Terrible bed and awful sleep. Our backs hurt so bad. We could feel the springs/metal in our bodies. We dreaded having more days left at the hotel. We learned they forgot to add a mattress topper. We asked for an additional topper. Housekeeping added a topper and left the other one on the bed for us to add on?! We asked front desk staff if it could be added as we are paying for housekeeping. They didn’t do anything. We followed up. They then said housekeeping may be gone. We went for dessert. Asked again. And housekeeping was sent to our room. And she didn’t speak English so we used google translate with no luck. We ended up adding it ourselves and making our own bed. Housekeeping came but didn’t empty all the trash cans. The one with dirty diapers was left. And we were responsible for our bed. Make that make sense to me. I was definitely scammed with the room. I booked a 2 queen room but left a message as I was trying to get a suite in the new building. I received a call back saying there’s a king room available in the new building - so I booked it. When checking in, we were given cards to the old building. Looking back at the email confirmation, they didn’t even write in the type of room. So scammy. I spoke with the a guy on the phone. He said he could move us to west wing for an extra $40/night but with north view. No discount or accountability of their mistake. they stopped answering my calls after the one request I made (mattress topper). poor wifi The toiletries choice is extremely poor/toxic. This is whatever though. But if they’re charging fairmont prices makes sense to upgrade. It was contradictory that they provided single use items but wanted to be "green" Pack n play crib with cardboard “mattress” - our toddler would not sleep in it. If they’re gonna go with a “safe” hard mattress then they shouldn’t be providing bedding that is lacking complete breathability. People smoke on the balconies. If you keep your door open, the smell comes in. I told front desk staff about smoking during the day. And Karan called us at 9pm to ask us if we are smoking. First of all, 9pm?! And calling a room with a baby and waking the baby up?! And we are the ones that told you?! So disorganized and unaware. I talked to front desk staff in the morning and the Indian girl said she doesn’t know which room has babies lol. Great. But calling people at 9pm makes sense and calling the people that notified you of the smoking makes sense. Zero accountability. No apologies. The chairs on the balcony are extremely uncomfortable or it’s my back still hurting from the pile of springs I slept on

Close to $400 a night for this place. Aside from the location, it’s awful. We definitely won’t be staying here again nor would I recommend it. $350 can go a very long way, some great airbnbs around and other hotels with similar location perks. I would reco looking around prior to booking here.

I’m shocked at the folks that are at the front desk. They lack customer service skills and total self awareness. I encourage them to listen, take accountability, apologize and solve the problem. If I was management, I would fire, hire and train asap. The experience those folks provide is vital to the experience customers have. And is the reason we won’t...

This place is really nice. It has all the markings of a Canadian all inclusive style resort (without the all inclusive part). Private and public beach was literally outside, the couple food choices on site were convenient, and the place was clean. The west wing rooms were really nice but I think considering the amenities cut during covid (like no housekeeping and limited menu/dining options) it was a bit high priced. As well the people we traveled with stayed in the regular rooms and their view was much better than our more expensive room. A few things: there's obviously a lot of new staff at this hotel. From my understanding they just had a job fair about a month ago so everyone in pretty much every aspect of the hotel is new. Understandable and considering this, the staff did a good job. We ordered some late night room service which took a while to get a hold of someone and they didn't have an item menu simply because they just could not find it (Popcorn) and the Mac and cheese was missing the topping described on the menu but was still good. The restaurant on the water was only open Wednesday to Sunday which was unfortunate because our visit was Sunday to Wednesday which left the only two dining options in the beach bar and the breakfast Cafe which I'll get to in a moment. I think my main complaint with this hotel is lack of information and convenience items that most resorts readily have. There's no book or anything really obvious in the room to tell you what's happening or where you can go, what time they're open Etc. as you would expect with the resort this size. Even the cable guide tent card had fallen behind the couch so we didn't realize we could Chromecast from our phones to the smart TV which would have been great since the channels offer pretty much nothing for a movie in. The hotel is also severely lacking in some basic amenities like a small convenience store or a sundries corner. It was great they offered Starbucks in the room but there was no place to buy cream if you weren't a powdered cream kind of person, so we didn't use it. There are no vending machines, and if you want something other than baked goods or buffet for breakfast, or to buy water bottles/juice/a yogurt or a pack of gum there's no real place to buy that unless you hunt it down in a hidden display fridge in the cafe. Btw the buffet was NOT a good value and because of that it was not very busy in there. They would likely do better if they just served a la carte breakfast much menu has that patio would have been great to sit on, and since the restaurant on the water was closed meant the only other place to eat was the beach bar which had a limited menu. On the third day I did find out that the front desk sells a small selection of snack items which they will charge to your room for you but it wasn't an obvious thing, nor was it wasn't really advertised outside of a small sign at the front desk. Btw, the gift shop for a beach hotel was crazy expensive, and amazingly did not sell any Beach wear/cover-ups but there is a vendor on the beach who has a cute selection of wraps and cover-ups! None of this spoiled our stay, it was a fun getaway and relaxing but small things like better communication in the rooms, a convenience store and a better gift shop selection would've been great. Overall we'll likely return and hope a few things have...

Our original booking was supposed to be a “2 Queens Beachview” and our hotel room had no where near a beach view. Not a single light in the room except for a lamp and outlets that were unreachable behind the bed. The “mini-fridge” in the room. Was not a fridge at all. The drinks we put in there came out frozen solid. The pool was unusable. Disgusting and murky dirt all over the bottom of the pool. Hot tub was not working to begin with. No where near hot. The jets did not work. It was outdated and gross and murky. It was essentially a warm bath that other people had been in. Not including how when we had the sign outside for no housekeeping and told the front desk we didn’t need it we still had housekeeping come into our room. The air conditioner could not be turned off and was so loud we could not sleep through the night.

Did not help that every neighbour especially those above us could be heard walking and making noise all through the night. Broken plumbing- which is a necessity in any livable apartment or hotel room: Water pressure would come and go randomly to the point it was a drizzle in the shower. We only stayed two nights and one of those two nights the hot water in the hotel room never worked. The shower especially was nearly impossible to use because of how low the showerhead was. I am average height and I had to duck to use the shower head. Nearly hurting my neck in doing so. We were at this hotel to attend a wedding and the food that was provided by the hotel was disgusting. It was either uncooked Raw or having no flavour whatsoever. Even while people were still drinking and enjoying themselves, they were packing up glasses utensils, and people’s unfinished drinks that they were still going to finish. Including drinks, desserts, and the actual dinner that was paid for by the bride and groom. 275$ is discounted? For the wedding.

The hotel is not worth that let alone their supposed original price of 400$ a night. A motel has better beds and chairs that are not made out of cheap foam. The stay was in no way worth what we were forced to pay.

Having to pay for parking is absolutely insane at a hotel you are already staying at and paying for. Especially considering the hotel Parkade has signs everywhere saying they are not responsible for anything that happens to the vehicles in the Parkade so what am I paying for?

There’s no security there’s no anything.and when we spoke to the front desk about it all they were hostile refusing to do anything until the end and all they did was say they would make a note and wrote nothing down. Both our check in and check out clerks were incredibly rude and dismissive.

The gym is listed as an amenity until you review the fine print where it says “Please note: The gym is a complimentary service for guests from 7 am – 7 pm. However, there is a $5 fee during peak hours from 4pm – 7pm.”

When confronted with these issues during our stay nothing was fixed. And when confronted with them when leaving the front desk clerk did nothing but take a note down and I had to call days in a row to actually speak to anyone only to be told they would not do anything except refund a small amount and a discount on a follow up stay. A stay we will not be...

I won 1 night stay in their new built. Deluxe king suite....??!...What a disappointment. I am glad I did not have to pay for it. I am local and needed to see if it would be suitable for my parents. It was a very easy...NO. The new part is a different building. You must go outside to the main building, to the reception. You get a card to open some "automatic doors"...they will not open on windy days. Heavy doors to open for most elderly people. The building and design feels "institutional" The art work need to be updated. Stepping out of the lift.. felt like I just step into 1975 hotel. Orange and brown.... Heavy doors to get to your room....Watch out! They slam right shut and loud...you will hear them a lot. The room had high ceilings, good thing because it feels like I am in a shipping container. Narrow room with a large bathroom. Lots of waste of space in the bathroom. Very small kitchenette area with high bar and stools. Not much proper place to put your luggage. The poor state of the walls was very noticeable ...smear, damages, poor paint job... Thick layer of dust on the mirrors , The bathroom shower floor tiles was absolutely disgusting. .....Black mold. I did not want to step in. It got worst as I notice such a low quality and low functioning shower head. Very poor quality....and to top it all...the hand held shower wand don't even work at all. Just by the look of the amount of spider web on the window frame.....obviously they never go that far. Filthy is the patio, from the roof to the furniture, the door and the blinds are not to be touched. Don't bother paying for park view.... Go somewhere else with a better green park view without the street noise and the homeless population. But of course, if you come to party in the summer time...I guess, and hope it's better if you wish to be IN the action. Be sure to read...the "complimentary glass water bottle"....will be a $20 charge on your bill. There is no creamer liquid or powder for the coffee maker, check as you go in if this is important to you. It was October, the heat was needed...but had to fuss to turn everything off cuz of the noise generated by it was irritating...and my nose seems to get congestion by the minute. Design...oh dear...what a waist I guess, as usual designer design but never test or use their design. You will instantly notice this poor design....no night tables, just a shelf on the head board with a electrical plug in 3 inches from your hair and your head. As for the TV and the Fire place location....It could not have been worst of a design...It's too ridiculous to explain and really want to let you have the amazing " moment" where you will notice it...or run into the TV face first, on you way back from the dirty patio...lol

Want to preface by saying we stayed here last year and gave it five stars. This year we had a very different experience. We were here for a conference and I do have some good things to say. 1. The view. Paid extra for the seaview and it was lovely on the balcony. 2. The staff in the conference area. Absolutely friendly and efficient. 3. The coffee at the Bufflehead restaurant was delicious. 4. The room was quite clean and the bed was comfortable. Now to the bad stuff. 1. The food. For an expensive resort i expected the food to be excellent. Last year the breakfast buffet was fantastic. This year everything was wet and mushy. Waffles were moist eggos, the hashbrowns were soggy, the eggs seemed to have water or something added to them maybe to stretch them so it was soggy scrambled eggs. Granola was stale. Basically paid 75 dollars with tip for two people to eat something that would have been better at a fast food restaurant. The dinner we had the night before at the other restaurant, fish and chips, all overcooked to the point of the fish being hard and chewy. 2. Noise. Wish we would have been told when we reserved the room that the bar music was so loud that even on the sixth floor it sounded like a party in the next room. We both put in earplugs and the music was still so loud we couldn't sleep. Called at 11 and the front desk said other people had already called and they said they told them to turn it down but they never did. If anything it got louder and went on until after midnight. So if you have an early morning meeting like we did, this hotel is not a good idea. Its remarkable to pay more for these rooms and have such a terrible experience. If nothing else, they should warn people in advance so they can make a decision if they want to deal with the noise and then give them a reduced price for the room. 3. Just the expense. For the experience we had both with food and the noise, the cost of this hotel is not worth it.

I could rave about the gorgeous lake views and the surrounding valley that this location boasts, but that’s obviously why anyone first looks at this property. I could discuss how lovely the food was across the board, but that comes with the territory. What I want to praise is the SERVICE! My husband and I checked in Friday evening and had only been here an hour when it was time to meet our friends and family for a celebration of life dinner. We accidentally wandered into the Barking Parrot, and they happened to be hosting their 30th anniversary party. Brannigan was the first of the staff to notice our lost faces, and wandered over to assist. She apologized for her appearance (she was on theme for the party) and kindly escorted us to the Hooded Merganser Restaurant across the way. We chatted about life, Canada, etc .. small talk. She asked us how we found our room so far. We answered that it was great! We had a partial view, and with nothing else to compare it to, we were pleased. She then asked if we were in the old or new building and we didn’t honestly know. Upon sharing our room number, she politely handed us off to our guests and left. A few moments later she came back with a new set of keys… “I hope you REALLY enjoy your stay now,” she said. The new room was GORGEOUS, and it was abundantly clear that we’d been moved from the old to the new building. We literally were taken aback by the difference. It not only allowed us to enjoy our stay this weekend to the max, but it solidified that we will be back here every time we are up this way. I know that this particular experience is not able to given to everyone, but just know that this hotel boasts a staff that is kind and considerate and will go above and beyond for you (Leah, our waitress for 16 people at the Hood, I’m looking at you too!!) Thank you!! We couldn’t be happier!
