First of all a huge shoutout to the staff at KOYA Penticton for staying late for us to have our lunch .. we didn’t know they closed from 2-4 and showed up at 1:30 but the staff said we were ok to stay til 3 while they finished their cleanup!
So this was my first experience with KOYA and it was fantastic! The atmosphere is so clean and chic, the staff were super friendly, and the food was amazing!
I took my son and his GF and my niece for lunch while visiting on Penticton. None of us had been to KOYA before but we will be sure to come back again!
I got there early so I ordered a Chicken Karaage starter and it was hot and fresh and delicious. When everyone finally showed up I ordered the Hot Spicy Miso Ramen with Chicken Karaage. My son and my niece both had the Creamy Ginger Ramen, one with Chicken Karaage and the other with Garlic Beef. My son’s GF had the Teriyaki Chicken Rice bowl. We also had some warming and refreshing hot Ginger lemon tea and a miso soup and some pork Gyoza and a Tuna Avocado roll. Everything tasted amazing and is made fresh to order. The attention to detail is incredible because each dish looked exactly like the pic on the menu and we all know that rarely ever happens!
Overall the prices are quite reasonable with our total for the food being under $110 before tip. And the girls ended up each taking some food home.
I would 100% recommend KOYA Penticton to anyone wanting a delicious ramen...
Read moreKoya Penticton is an excellent Japanese restaurant that prides itself on using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients in their dishes. This commitment to freshness is evident in everything they serve, from the sushi to the poke bowls to the sushi burritos and beyond.
One of the standout dishes at Koya Penticton is their koya burrito. Made with fresh ingredients like salmon, tuna, cucumber and prawn tempura the sushi burrito is healthy and satisfying. The Tokyo spicy poke is another great option, with tender pieces of tuna and salmon tossed in a spicy sauce and served over rice.
If you're in the mood for sushi, the sushi tray at Koya Penticton is a must-try. The fish is always fresh and expertly prepared, and the selection of rolls and sushi burritos is extensive and varied. The beef yakiniku bowl is another standout dish, with tender slices of beef and vegetables served over rice with a flavourful sauce.
In addition to the high quality of the food, the service at Koya Penticton is also excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, and always happy to make recommendations or answer any questions you may have.

Read moreThis was the second time I’ve eaten the “Japanese” food from Koya. and I regret it even more than the first time. Months ago we ordered take-out. The sushi burrito actually had some grains of sand in it. I couldn’t finish it when I discovered that. I went to complain and they were incredibly indifferent.
I reluctantly went again today and boy was I wrong to give it a second try. I had the teriyaki chicken bowl. The chicken was overcooked and stringy. I lived in Japan for 5 years and that WAS NOT teriyaki. It had NO flavour and I think it came from a bottle of something bland to begin with and was way passed its expiry. The rice was ok.
The salmon salad was a ripoff. It was almost entirely greens and some veg. The “salmon” was five or six thin strips about 2cm long, which were almost entirely made of the burnt skin of the salmon covering 2-3mm thick pieces of salmon.
