I stayed at the Monashee for 3 weeks at the beginning of July 2016 awaiting my new residence in Revelstoke. I.ve been looking for a way to show my appreciation for everything they did to keep me comfortable for my pets and I. 2 hairless cats, "Harry, Heidi" and my golden doodle Abby. someone mentioned do a review online and.... here we are. Dean and Kathleen the owners are the most wonderful, salt of the earth people I have ever met. It feels weird writing this because they have become family. They are grandparents to my beloved pets and they even fell in love with Abby and now take her everyday that I work. EVERYDAY!! that's 40 hours plus, a week. Their motel is immaculate and they are clean FREAKS!! I do not have enough amazing things to say about my new friends. I don't know how they have the energy to clean, prepare and bake everyday for their continental breakfast and still mingle with the guests as they do. They are always around and always available. I could ramble on all day so I'll quit with this..... Staying at the Monashee adds an additional wow factor to visiting Revelstoke. They are professionals that will become your friends. I don't feel this review does my respect for Dean and Kathleen justice but the thought... That's...
Read moreMyself and three of my friends (all in our twenties) decided to book a room here for a cheap stay in Revelstoke for the week. At first we had no problems. The rooms smelled like cigarettes, but we aren't picky and paid very little so didn't mind. They were very clear on no cooking or smoking inside. None of us smoke and obviously weren't going to cook inside. I however, did have a camping stove and a small cannister of isobutane fuel for it (the type that they sell in canadian tire and mec... totally safe to store indoors) that I kept inside. When they cleaned the rooms mid week, it was fine, no problems. What I didn't realize until we checked out is that they confiscated my stove and fuel on the day that they cleaned it without notifying anybody. I tend to lose track of my things, so I didn't even notice until I was told that my stove was left outside the door when we checked out. These were taken from my room without any discussion or warning. Had they had forgotten about it, I would have driven very far home without realizing until who knows when. If you stay here fine, its a good price. However, keep a list of all of your things in case...
Read moreCute hotel, had a late check in because we were driving from Edmonton. Picked it for a few reasons, I like independently owned hotels and the location seemed good! Didn't get a chance to really explore the area with our late arrival, ah well. I liked the room, had a rustic quality to it, quaint and comfortable. My only real note is the breakfast, as this was another factor in my decision to chose this hotel, and it just either didn't exist or was an after thought. There was mention of a to-go bag breakfast when I asked at check in, but on check out there wasn't a morsel of food to be seen. So I don't know if this is a breakfast you can only get by asking, but I was definitely expecting it to be more readily available. Breakfast being included is a big decision factor when dropping $200 on a room for a night, so I'm disappointed in that regard. But everything else was definitely up to standard. Probably would pick any of the other local hotels that had "Breakfast" signs next...
