Roger's Motel — Hotel in Rideau Lakes

The Owner seemed nice at first. When I arrived, the fridge was not plugged in, the tv was not working, the room smelled musty and old but I thought ok. Then the police cars were there that night for someone. Of course I was worried about my safety so I called in to ask if It was safe here. The tap water tasted rusty too. But after I settled and asked if there was a Veterans discount, he looked at me like, this place is cheap enough. Like he did not care that I was a Veteran. He had come into my room twice to fix what I couldn't, which for covid reasons I didn't really like. He charged me 10 dollars for each puppy I had, the same price you charge a human almost, so the 75 dollar room was more like 130. Anyways,the next morning I went to check out and he locked the front door even though the sign said open, which was weird. He was right there dressed and ready. I never saw that before. But what upset me the most was the rules on there paper in the motel. Saying they can tell u to leave anytime and they can charge you lots of extra money for pretty much anything they want. I was worried and upset about that. When I dropped off my key, he didn't even say thank u or sorry about the police cars worrying me or how was my stay. I wanted to be positive but there seems to be more rules here than anywhere else at any Hotel or Motel that I have ever seen. I could of went anywhere else which would of been nicer for that price. I thought I would give them a chance and be nice. You know when u enter a room like this you expect it to be completely ready. I did have a nice time and I did clean the room and throw all my garbage out in the garbage cans but I left worrying if they would charge me 250 more just cause they could for pretty much anything they wanted to. I hope they are nice people and I hope they were glad I came for visit but it seems that I did not feel very safe here. I would go to the Best Western next time down the road, or the other Motel there. He told me there was no other Motel, he didnt know I guess that there is another Motel just down the road. Good price, excellent service. Spent two nights, back to back. Dana was outstanding. She was there for us before we needed anything. I got a local motel for several reason, car breaking down was one. Dana offered to go to Tim Hortons for us in the morning. We met great people over our two night stay. The room was clean, stocked, newly updated furniture, comfortable bed, nice bedding, control over thermostat, microwave, mini fridge. The building is older. Dana’s friendly customer service, kindness, actions and price was a perfect combination. It made a unpleasant situation into a two night stay to remember. we stayed 2 night upon arriving in our room we notice it was very clean well set up and nicely updated with nice flooring not run mill carpet clean comfortable bed clean bathroom and the motel area was well kept The second night the owner was nice enough to direct us to a restaurant for dinner he was very knowlable about the area and willing to help|Upon returning home i noticed i had forgotten something in my room and being 5 hours away was very upset and worried i would not get returned to me but the owner went out off his way to get my address to return it to me in the mail |Can not say enough about this motel the rooms and owner are amazing i would reccomend this place 100% and would be staying on out next...
