I hate writing bad reviews, but I did not have a good experience. I arrived at 12 pm - parking lot was empty - and they could not check me in until 2 (many places I go they will say come back in 15-20 minutes and we will get a room ready but it looks like they wanted to get all the rooms done before checking me in - sigh). So I drove around for 2 hours and came back. I unpacked, went out, and came back later and then I noticed the toilet seat was stained yellow with urine. Ugh! But I ignored it (didn't want to pack up again and unpack) and went to bed (had to get up early for a flight in Ottawa). I was in an adjoined room, a room with one of those doors that connects you to another unit. Of course people moved into the room next to me, and started talking and watching TV. Ugh! The sound proofing between the rooms was not great given the adjoining door. So I couldn't sleep. The hotel was not crowded (based on the parking lot) so not sure why they gave me that room (why not a normal room without an adjoining door) nor why they put someone in an adjoining room given all the other empty rooms. I went to the front to ask for a new room and they moved me upstairs to an empty room without the adjoining door and with an unstained toilet seat. This was done quickly which was great - but at that point I was wide awake and unhappy. I also asked about breakfast thinking it would be muffins and coffee or something and I had to leave at 530 am - I would grab and go - and was told they would tell the next shift to leave something for me - but when I got up and went down nothing. It was disappointing. Definitely don't rent rooms with stained toilet seats. Definitely put space/rooms between customers if the hotel is not full. Definitely do not put people in adjoining rooms unless they ask for it or again unless the hotel is full. Don't promise breakfast if you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalking in, the hotel room looked very nice. Unfortunately, that night, we noticed that there was a wad of tissue under our bathroom counter that had been missed from previous occupant, covered in brown. It was late and we had just gotten the kids to bed, so we decided to contact the front desk in the morning. I went to use the toilet before heading down to breakfast and talking to desk, went to change the toilet paper and the plastic rod that goes through the toilet paper roll was covered in crap, literally. And I was holding it in my hands. I went to the desk and complained. They sent someone to clean it up, they did not offer anything else to us.
I complained to Expedia since we had booked through them, they said we had to wait a few days and they would speak to a manager, they were away. I heard back a few days later and Best Western has decided this is completely acceptable and claims it was never reported to the front desk so theyāll do nothing for us. I guess the three elderly ladies who were at the desk, though very kind and friendly, didnāt make note of this anywhere or the manager is lying.
The pool had a spot about a foot wide where the liner was ripping away from the wall, also hadnāt been cleaned for awhile it would seem from the couple inches of dark that ringed the pool just above the water.
I will not return to this hotel, and probably never to Best Western after this. I e-mailed them a few days ago and still no response. After holding someone elseās smeared fecal matter in my bare hand, just could not stop thinking about what else must be filthy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRoom was fairly clean when I arrived. Looks like they have renovated the rooms, removing all carpeting and installing tile and hardwood flooring. Bathroom was clean, though when you flush the toilet you need to hold the handle down for about 10 seconds to ensure that everything drains. Hallways are neat, carpets look fairly new. However, front carpeted stairs and stairwells could desperately use a vacuum or mopping. ||The continental breakfast was decent, comprising scrambled eggs, sausage links, toast, muffins, yogurt, oatmeal, and cereal. For coffee, they have a machine that grinds and brews the beans at the moment you request a cup. The result is good, but it does mean you have to wait a couple of minutes for your coffee to be ready. This can lead to lineups during the busier times (b/w 8-9am).||The nights were very quiet. I could not hear anyone else else's TV or conversations when I was in my room. The mattress was not super comfy, but it's OK. Blackout curtains work extremely well: I usually wear a sleep mask but didn't need it here. ||Housekeeping is kept to a minimum during your stay: they replace used towels with fresh ones, straighten up your bed, and remove your garbage, that's it. I think this is sufficient. Ice and laundry machines are on the first floor. There is also an outdoor swimming pool that many people made use of. This would be great if you were travelling with small children who need something to do.||Overall, it's been a comfortable stay, and I would certainly consider booking here again if I was...
