Went with my family and the motel was super nice and clean.
Key pick-up and check-out went super smoothly as well. Their reception room has complimentary hot water, ice, coffee and teas which was also a nice touch. The only thing I would suggest is for them to keep the door to the reception shut cause a lot of bugs would wander in...which isn't the most pleasant when you're trying to get a cup of coffee.
Room wise, you get a pretty comfy room with great views, an AC unit and a nice patio outside. The walls were also surprisingly noise-proof considering the fact that there was no vacancy. Either that, or everybody around us was extremely curtious about their noise levels and made sure to stay quiet. Keep in mind that they provide cups, a blow dryer, soap and shampoo for the room but don't expect to find amenities like toothbrushes, combs or travel size products like you would at a standard hotel. The distance from the motel to the main attractions was within walking distance or a short drive. You could easily get away with leaving your car at the motel if you chose to. There's a path along the lake that takes you straight down to the harbour.
Overall I would highly recommend Grandview if you're looking for a...
Read moreThey had overbooked their rooms. Good thing we showed up with our printed and emailed confirmation of 2 beds but they could only offer us 1 bed, which made for an uncomfortable stay. The woman who helped us even claimed we were wrong until we showed her the emails we received that confirmed our booking. While we remained polite, she lacked professionalism by being unkind, accusatory, and never apologized after she saw our confirmation email. The next day, there was a room available (matching our original booking) and she said we didnt have to pay extra for our new room as if she was doing us a favour. I remained polite the entire time throughout our stay with this condescending service, but I realize now in hindsight, we were very mistreated by the staff. I can sense they have prejudices against certain people and that they do not treat all guests equally.
I also had red bumpy bites all over my torso when I got home. I don't think they were bed bugs but I immediately washed all my clothes, to be safe. I had called the motel after and they said it wouldn't have been bed bugs and that it could have been other bugs while hiking. To be safe, check the mattresses...
Read moreThe motel offered us a place to stay for our time in Tobermory and the location being close to the lake was positive. However, this motel is not worth the value that they charge you. I understand that it’s peak tourist season during the summer but I’m sure with a big price should come better amenities. My girlfriend and I stayed in a queen-size room and upon entering, we immediately noticed a strange smell which was quite off-putting considering the room was cleaned prior to our arrival. The room also housed quite a lot of mosquitoes which we either had to swat ourselves or just ignore them because no matter how many we killed, there’d always be an extra 5-6 hiding by the lights. Finally, the standing shower is ridiculously small and it makes you feel claustrophobic. The shower handle itself is not flexible (locked in) and the water pressure is weak. We almost debated taking a bath in the Georgian bay (I’m just kidding, but we did consider). Please please please anyone who is booking a room, choose the king or double queen. Don’t bother with the queen room and if that’s the only one available, just go...
