New Sunrise Grill — Restaurant in Toronto

Genuinely surprised this place has good reviews. Maybe we came on a bad day, but regardless - waiting an hour for 2 dishes is not acceptable.

I paid for my parking at 1:05 and we walked into a busy restaurant. It was full, but the restaurant doesn't have many tables so we decided to dine in before work. There were also no big groups, mostly tables of 2 or 3. We got sat at the back of the restaurant, which was fine. Server took our drink orders right away then dropped off our drinks and said she will be right back. When she came back, she took our order (within 10 minutes of sitting). So, we didn't expect to wait too long for our food. We overheard the table beside us had placed their orders but were waiting as well. As we were waiting, a gentleman joined the table beside us, and his order was taken a good 20 minutes after we had placed our order. The server said it will most likely come later than the rest of his table, he said it was fine. About another 20 minutes later, all 3 people at that table got their food. After waiting for another 10-15 minutes, I decided to ask about our food, and the server said it would be ready soon (I ordered an omelette and didn't see an omelette on the grill). Finally we decided to ask the server for our food to go.

As a server myself, I totally understand things are a bit crazy right now, especially with Ontario lifting the seating limitations for restaurants. Regardless, almost an hour wait for food which consisted of eggs and potatoes, as well as no updates about why the food was taking so long, is not acceptable. I never leave a $0 tip, but I really was disappointed in the experience we had here today. The restaurant should consider spending a bit more money to have a second cook and server on shift. Back again to review this place as I am a regular here at this point. The staff transcend service to the point of being treated like family. From greeting you by name when you walk in and already having your fresh hot coffee poured into the cup before you make it to the front.

The definition of Community lives and thrives within the walls of this establishment. I’ll never stop sharing this place with friends and family, I’ve always dreamed of becoming a regular at a breakfast spot and now I have.

Excited for every morning because I know their coffee helps fuel my day❤️

(Old Review) The staff of this establishment have a tendency to treat you like family. The food is always picture perfect, and the taste is always immaculate. It’s a damn shame this place ever gets looked over for all of those “boujee” breaky spots.

If I were the mayor of this city I’d outlaw all breakfast joints...

Ate there Oct.4/22. First: Food is good, big portions, and reasonably priced, perhaps a little lower than it should be for the size of portions. Second: Service from waitress was attentive but she could only do so much. Getting to that with point 3. Third: Kitchen (2 working in kitchen) not with it. Waited over 45 minutes for my order. Two women seated with a young toddler waited longer for their food. Waitress was getting frustrated with the Kitchen. Takeout orders were coming in after our order and other customer's orders and getting filled before orders from walk ins that placed their order before the take outs. Kitchen needs a shake up and I am not sure that it doesn't include management. Cannot give higher than 2 stars although if some people working there had their heads screwed on right wouldn't take much to get to a 4.5....
