We stayed at this hotel during our family vacation for four nights. Overall, the hotel was a good value for the price.

Rooms - The rooms were clean EXCEPT for the ant infestation. The staff offered for us to switch rooms while the ants were being taken care of. Apparently, this is an ongoing problem. The room on the back side of building was quiet. The room on the street facing side of the building had some traffic noise. We received a Best Western gift card for the inconvience.

Service - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The texting about room cleaning was annoying. Althought, to be fair, I could have asked them to stop.

Parking - The valet service was straight forward and easy. However, we were dissatisfied that our car was left on the street for an hour. The car received a parking ticket that the hotel staff said they would take care of.

Location - The location was great. We were walking distance to the grocery store, coffee shops, restaurants, the harbour, shopping (Government street), etc. However, we did not enjoy the proximity to the homeless encampment a few blocks away (Pandora). At times, there was blatant drug use just across the street from the hotel. We would have appreciated a warning since we were walking around with a young child and Pandora Avenue was the quickest route to the grocery store. Unfortunately, I suppose almost every city has these areas nowadays. I wish we had stayed closer to the parliament building.

My son loved the free hot chocolate after 12pm from the Kurig in the lobby. We never did eat a the attatched restaurant but we heard good things.

In the future, we would not consider...

Right off the bat, the service from the staff is smiling and welcoming. The hotel has a chic vibe and has all your modern needs. Be sure to ask for directions to the very well stocked exercise room.

The suite had a interesting lay out and what I thought was two bedrooms was two rooms with beds. Those beds though, those beds are why I stay at BW properties. Earplugs provided if needed, your head will hit those pillows and snore. The kitchen was well and good, the tvs did their jobs admirably, but what is a hotel really for, but to sleep? You can also be sure that this room was clean, right down the places you might not think about. Don't worry, I checked. The bathroom was small and tight for this 6'2" frame, free toiletries if you forgot yours and high qualities products in the showers.

Breakfast at the cafe in the lobby was delicious (salmon benny if that's your kinda thing), and only narrowly outshined the custom Keurig coffee making machine in the lobby. Yes, and thank you!

Parking is valet, and is added to your bill ($30). Also free night parkade near by. There is a lot of people on the streets at night and so I recommend spring for the valet.

My only real gripe is the cost for the room for the night. High season, monday night in Victoria.. I get it. I think after dropping the deposit I had expectations set by other properties of similar value and venue and I was disappointed...

i stayed here in October 2019. there are both pros and cons about this hotel but all in all i do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

pros

  1. the staffs at the reception were all nice and friendly without exception.
  2. they took an action immediately when there was a problem.

cons

  1. they had BED BUGS.
  2. they placed me in that room knowingly that the next room was already infested (in the next day the manager told me that the next room was being under the treatment).
  3. they did not let me negotiate and refunded only partially so i feel as if i paid a couple of hundreds to buy the itchy rash, trauma and paranoia that they might still be here and there and i might be bringing them home………
  4. they lost three of my socks during laundry, then found a pair. so i just lost a sock, but usually people pay to get something, not to loose something.
  5. the first room (in the 4th floor) was dirty, especially the chair was nightmare, though the second room (in the 5th floor) was clean.

bed bug isn't 100% hotel's fault since usually guests bring them, and i guess Best Western is generally fine hotel according to the reviews here, so just be very careful, check the sign of bed bigs throughout and possibly ask them if your next room is infested or not if you have to stay here.

P. S. unfortunately I have to say that you did. the manager explained how my room got infested to me with the memo...

A few days ago, my family and I made a reservation at this hotel and explicitly mentioned that we were travelling with our 14-month-old baby. Despite this, we were assigned a room located directly above a nightclub. From 9:00 PM until approximately 2:00 AM, we experienced persistent and disruptive noise, which repeatedly disturbed our child's sleep and caused considerable distress. At around 11:30 PM, I approached the front desk to inquire about the situation. It was only at this point that I was informed of the nightclub's presence directly below our room. The staff indicated that the establishment exercised no noticeable noise mitigation measures. What I found particularly surprising was the claim that no previous complaints regarding noise from the nightclub had been received. Upon personal observation, the environment around the nightclub appeared disorderly and was frequented by a diverse and unruly crowd. I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked about possible solutions. The staff offered an apology and stated that the matter would be escalated to the manager the following day. I strongly advise against choosing this hotel if you prioritize a peaceful and restful stay.
