TL;DR - PHENOMENAL Hotel facilities and fantastic / friendly staff. 5 Stars. Will be returning. Perfect location. Walk-able to many neighborhoods, restaurants, and attractions.
Novel: The Victoria Regent is an incredible property with top notch facilities and staff. We arrived extremely late (about 1:00am) on our first night - which can always be a cause for anxiety especially when travelling internationally - and we were greeted sincerely by the night audit. He was extremely efficient checking a couple of weary travelers in and we appreciated it so much. He answered a few quick questions for us, and made us feel right at home.
Our view from the room was fantastic. Potentially the best in the city, as we had a perfect view of the life of the harbour daily. The pictures attached will give you an idea, but won't do it justice. The hotel sits directly on the harbour, and even has a water taxi stop directly in front of the hotel!
The complimentary breakfast was just what we needed to start our day. Some hot options, some cold options, with a great view, and a really helpful and engaging staff.
We were consistently greeted with smiles when leaving the hotel daily and returning on pit stops throughout our adventures in downtown Victoria. This was extremely appreciated as it made us feel welcome and at a home away from home. The front desk agents were so helpful. Ben even offered up an umbrella for borrow to a couple of tourists who forgot theirs! He also reserved a cab for our departure date so we could be to the airport on time.
Lastly, our checkout was extremely efficient. Our guest agent was so friendly to us and made sure she had a smile even though my wife and I were terribly sad to be leaving. She even called the cab to confirm they were arriving at the determined time.
Terrific facilities and fantastic employees. Thank you for making this trip so memorable for us. We...
Read moreWe have stayed at the Victoria Regent every Christmas for more than 20 years, always with exceptional service. This year was somewhat different. My complaint is really against the young man at the front desk. We had a two bedroom suite but were told we would have to park our second car up the road in a parkade. While not an ideal situation, the hotel was apparently very full and we were understanding of this. It was the condescending and completely inflexible attitude/responses of the desk clerk I had issue with. I asked twice if I could bring my car in to be charged. Both times I was abruptly told the parkade up the road has chargers. I explained that you can’t just plug in and leave your car overnight as they are for short term use. It was between -5 and -11 our entire trip with snow so I wasn't prepared to trudge back and forth to do so. All the while during the day, the charging spots below sat empty. Only once as we were leaving for the day in the car was I told I could charge when I asked for the second time, but only if I did so, “right now.” The last day of our stay I got up in the morning, got my car from up the road, went into the hotel parkade and charged my car. I informed the desk I was doing so rather than asking. Not my usual way of communicating but this was the most unhelpful, condescending individual I have ever dealt with. However, it is important to note everyone else was wonderful as usual. Cleaning staff are all lovely and helpful. At over $600/night I would have expected a bit more accommodating and helpful attitude at the front desk. Soured our...
Read moreBooked a very special Milestone Birthday for my wife this May and keyed in on the location of this Hotel. Although a little dated, it has been well renovated, is very bright and very clean. I booked a package through Expedia (Air, Hotel, Car Rental, etc) then went directly to the Property to upgrade. Staff were fantastic and did everything to make sure this was a very special occasion. The upgrade was inexpensive but what was delivered can only be described as outrageous! Full 1bdrm Penthouse Suite with over 500sqft of Patio over looking the Harbour. Full Kitchen, Full size living room, 4pce bath plus jetted tub and an outdoor enclosed gazebo with 2 sided fireplace into a full size living room. We walked just about everywhere and did a couple water tours (Victoria Harbour Ferry) plus the Butchart Gardens. One of our favourite places to eat was JR Slims, right across the street from Main entrance. The best Nachos were through the basement on the water side in Lido Waterfront. The Red Fish Blue Fish had huge lineups so if you are walking around early in the day go hungry and go early. This was an Incredible trip and an incredible property. Major brownie points...
