Ruby on Douglas Street in Victoria is a gem of a restaurant that truly lives up to its reputation for great food and friendly service. Even with a short fifteen-minute wait to be seated, it was well worth it once we settled in. The space itself is bright, welcoming, and full of energy. Had really high expectations of this place. Me and my partner went in this Sunday, was a lineup as expected. Waited for 10 minutes before being served by the front host. He mentioned there was going to be 20-25 minutes wait and to come back and the table would be ready. We came back after 25 minutes, only to be told that it was “Expected time” and he was trying to do “His Best”, where-in other customers who came after us, had their table. No issues with that, it was the tone and gesture of the server, was very rude and he made us feel that we were not welcome in the establishment. This was the first time in Victoria, that I was made to feel discriminated by this person. We were patient, we came back after the time that we had been given and yet such rudeness, with a tone and hand gesture, and being told to *get out of the restaurant!! *was just very disappointing and honestly hostile. I wouldn’t know how the food tastes, or comment on anything else- but let’s us believe that the people, servers and management are not welcoming and discriminatory, which is very sad and surprising in this day and age!! Terrible food, prices, and service. I don't know how this place has such a good rating. Clearly the people eating here haven't had good food from other breakfast places in the area. Very upset to have wasted so much money on such a gross breakfast. The hash browns are gross bagged ones that you get at cheap restaurants, the eggs are gross cheap yellow eggs..I can't even remember the last time I had one at a restaurant because everywhere else uses the nice grass fed Orange ones. The hollandaise is premade packaged Orange junk even though in a bunch of pictures it looks like the homemade lighter stuff (had I seen a picture of the hollandaise they served I wouldn't have even wasted my time). The waffles and bananas were burnt and cold . When I said the waffles were burnt, the server just gave me a dirty look and said.. Really.. You think those are burnt ... Like no..I just said that because I was bored?! Are you blind.. for 15$ I expect the waffles that are worth less than a dollar to not be burnt. DON'T GO HERE!!!
